new 1.0.2 iphone - keep it there or update
i have a 1.1.1 for myself and now with ijailbreak, etc its easy to work with 3rd party apps etc.
i still have a 1.0.2 new in the box that i bought for my wife's birthday. at this point should i just leave it at 1.0.2 and use the old methods or upgrade it to 1.1.1 and ijailbreak it?
thanks

If it is new or you never unlocked, update to 1.1.1.
Personally I think that this version is a lot better (depending what are you using the iPhone for, modding or just stock)

having unlocked and used many 1.1.1's
i still prefer my 1.0.2
untill developers give up on apps for 1.0.2 i "personally" still prefer it..
but if you need multilanguage support and dont really need background wallpapers on your springboard, and i guess if you want o use the wifi itunes store you'll be great with 1.1.1

Yes, depending on what you would like to do to your iPhone.
If you wish to mod it, install apps, and other things, use 1.0.2.
If you wish to use your iPhone "stock" just like me, use 1.1.1.

i updated from 1.0.2 to 1.1.1 just yesterday. you get a few more features with 1.1.1. 3rd party programs still work (most of them anyway).

i don't really think my wife will care at all about the 3rd party apps...just using t-mobile instead of at&t. she's using a treo 680 now and really uses nothing but the phone. i think with the iphone she'd use the ipod and wifi but i can't think of many apps she'd use.
so, for a first unlocking at 1.0.2, is ifuntastic and/or independence still the best unlocking tools...and then using anysim?

I would recommend to update to 1.1.1 and use jailbreakme.com
It was never so easy, 10 Minutes and everything is in place.....
btw:
Don't mess up you 1.0.2 baseband with the old anysim

Exactly. Everybody should use 1.1.1, it offers a lot of bug- and security fixes compared to 1.0.2. If somebody has a virgin 1.0.2 phone, update it NOW to 1.1.1 (CAUTION: iTunes is supposed to offer the new 1.1.2 firmware very soon, so hurry up, you can even use iTunes 7.5 to update, no problem, same 1.1.1 firmware with TIFF exploit). The unlock/activation/YouTube stuff takes around 10 minutes and you don't need ANY computer to do that, just a working WiFi connection to the internet.
