Default Need Help, stuck in recovery mode

I installed a custom boot logo so I cannot take back my Iphone to the apple store, I tried everything to restore my 3gs, all my phone is doing is recyling thru the recovery screen, if someone know how to fix this please let me know, or if you know how to just wipe the bootlogo off my startup screen, so I could least take the iphone back to apple, I could tell them the phone just stop working but I need to either fix the problem or get the custom bootlogo off my iphone so I could returnt he phone to apple store, this all happen when I installed a app from cydia the phone went to reboot and never recovered.

I am running 3.2 , on a custom firmware from sinfuliphone.

Interesting that you are running OS 3.2 that has never been released.. I guess you mean 3.1.2. You did not mention which iPhone you have.

To get rid of the bootlogo try adapting the information in this blog. Do everything besides replacing the iBoot files.

You should be able to use your custom firmware as a starting point. if you don't have access to pwnagetool.

[cmdshft] / Boot your iPhone 2G/3G/3GS in verbose mode

This will not fix the iPhone not booting but... it will remove the boot logo

    Most likely...

You need to download bspatch because windows does not include this by default. http://sites.inka.de/tesla/download/bsdiff4.3-win32.zip

I recommend using a tool like winzip that allows you to simply replace the patched DMG file rather than unzipping and then re-zipping the whole IPSW like the instructions on that page suggest.

You wrote to me explaining this did not work.

There is a simpler way to change the custom logo now. Redsn0w 0.9 beta. Untick all options except boot logo.

Getting your iPhone out of recovery will require a restore. While it is technically possible to fix this manually, only the people who wrote redsn0w and similar programs know how to do this. There is no step by step guide.

If you want to get your data back, I don't think it is feasible. The tools to do that for your situation are limited to forensic investigators.

I was giving you recommendations to get rid of the boot logo (because you mentioned taking the iPhone in for a swap under warranty)

As you have a 3GS, I am not sure if that is such a good idea (might get a replacement iPhone which only supports tethered jailbreak)

What baseband were you running before you had this problem? If you had been running OS 3.0 or 3.0.1 before you installed the custom 3.1.2 ipsw there is a good chance that you are running baseband 04.26.08 which is preferred (especially if you need to unlock)

If you want to be safe and keep whatever baseband you have currently, I would recommend pretty much what I suggested earlier.

    1. Force the iPhone into recovery mode and load a custom 3.12 ipsw (preferably one you created yourself with pwnage tool)

    If that does not work..
    1. Use redsn0w to flash new custom logos (or even better enable verbose boot). This will hopefully clean out (as much as possible) the NOR
    2. Force the iPhone into recovery mode and load a custom 3.12 ipsw (preferably one you created yourself with pwnage tool)

If you are sure you were using baseband 05.11.07 (for example you were using blacksn0w for unlock or you purchased your iPhone running OS 3.1 or 3.1.2) then the fix is very simple:

    1. DFU mode http://www.hackint0sh.org/f137/54082.htm
    2. Restore to unmodified OS 3.1.2
    3. Redsn0w to jailbreak

my baseband is 04.26.08, everytime I trying to restore, everything goes good until the message "waiting for the iphone" then the phone just blanks out and reboot back into recover mode, in Irecovery only option that even worked was reboot, so I know the iphone is communicating just do not know how to fix the problem, I will try your suggestion tonight,

My phone was working fine until I installed an app from cydia, when the phone went to reboot, thats when the phone kept recycling through recovery mode. I notice this is happening to couple of people.

Grab a copy of the restore log %AppData%\Apple Computer\Logs\iPhone Updater Logs\ and post it to pastebin - collaborative debugging tool then link that posting to this thread, might give more of an idea of why it is not working.
