Need help to obtain $100 store credit for Early iPhone owners
Hi,
I'm from Canada.
I purchased my iPhone 8Go via eBay before the price drop.
It is fully functionnal on Rogers GSM network right now.
Since you need to have activated your iPhone through AT&T...
«Only iPhones activated through AT&T are eligible to receive a credit.»
it seem a little bit tricky in my case.
But, I read that there is a solution...
All I need is a US active AT&T (or Cingular) client who has a cellphone (but not the iPhone) who will accept that I use his cellphone number in the Apple online form to claim the Early iPhone owners credit.
After that Apple will send you (to your cellphone number) a sms which will contain a code that you will send to me by sms or email.
It will only take 2 minutes of your time.
All I ask is some help in order to receive my 100 store credit for Early iPhone owners.
Any help and suggestion are welcome,
Thanks in advance,

Has anyone tried this?
Has anyone who activated outside of itunes and uses their exisiting ATT sim/account tried to get the credit using their ATT phone number? Does it work? Does ATT then get wind of your iphone use and change your plan/rates?

I've tried to use the website to get a rebate with a different phone number. They have a database that has ser# and phone#...
When I activated my Iphone, I got a brand new phone number from at&t. After a few days of testing the phone, I moved my home phone number to the cell phone, and that took about 3 weeks (there was a mixup that caused a delay) for the new (old land line number) to work on the phone.
Later, the rebate stuff came up on the web, and apples rebate site would not accept my phone number. it would only accept the orginal phone number assigned during the activation.
I have doubts that you will be able to just submit a att phone number to get your rebate.
Because the sms message is sent to the phone number (one I no longer had) it was impossible for me to use the rebate.
Apple did finally email me the text of the sms message I would have gotten, after I emailed them about the problem.
To sum up: I think the only way for you to get rebate is thru the apple support people and not the website system....as I dont think it will work for you.
If they will do it for you is the next question.
Best of luck tho.

I had similar issues. One iPhone took the credit with NP.
The other has had the number changed several times since I got it. ALways on AT&T but switched from one number on the acct to the another, 2 of which no longer exosted. I got errors every time I tried.
I finally emailed them and they sent the message with the PIM manually to my existing number.
Moral of the story: If your number and IMEI don't match you might be able to work around it by emailing them and explaining the swapped phone number excuse.
All of that is assuming the original buyer hasn't claimed the credit already

I activated an iPhone with a go account used it for about 2 weeks then put in another at&t sim and reactivated with iNdependence. When I went to get my credit I tried to use the number for the go account (it was still good didn't cancel it yet) and it wouldn't accept it so I tried the number to the current sim that I was using and got the sms reply with the code.

I redeemed five credits.
For the first four, I found four friends with AT&T numbers (and no iPhones) and had the code sent to them. It appeared, I cashed in, no problems.
The first credit I redeemed I screwed up, though - I had it sent to a friend with Verizon, and while the website said "Your text will arrive soon!" she never got it, and all further attempts to enter that serial onto the page came up with "This iPhone isn't eligible." I managed to resolve the situation by finding another friend with AT&T, and having him email them with a story about how he entered in the wrong number by mistake, he bought it in this Apple Store, here's the receipt, here's my number, can you reset it please, etc. Apple responded and told him to try again, so I entered in his details and it worked.
I am not sure if this will all still work, but at least in that first week, all you needed was an AT&T number to send the verification code to.
