Hi, i just add the Arabic language to my iphone, which took me hours ! anyway now when i go to arabic websites or i read an arabic email i can see the text, but most of it is not connected to each other (arabic is different than english, we have connected and non connected letters) and also some of it is left to right (which is wrong) but the other is correct which is right to left, in the safari and mail most of it is right to left, but they are not connected

in this picture the title is left to right, but the text in the webpage appears to be right to left which is correct, but only the connecting problem.

also here the FROM it's left to right, but the text in the message is right to left which is correct, only the connection problem.

here it's all wrong, it's all left to right, which makes me think maybe it has to do with the web and mail settings ? because here and preferences and the main menu it's all left to right ...

i need help from anyone please to help me configure the iphone to connect the letters and make it read it right to left, if you know hebrew thats perfect cause hebrew is also a right to left language ..

I wanted to respond, hoping to add some attention to this thread. I might benefit from what is found here (I need some special chars local to my area..).

From what I remember from my days on linux, some localization strings need to be fixed.. No idea what they would be called in arabic.

Congrats on getting arabic to display on the phone in the first place - would you mind to write up a manual for this?

I'm sorry I can't really help you here - but I don't have a phone to play around with and try to snoop up some localization strings Good luck!

i tried something, it worked, but also didn't, see the picture to understand...

if you don't know the arabic language read this :
in English there is only 2 A's, the capital A, and the small a.

in Arabic for every letter there are 2 or more, lets say for example the letter "meem" which is basicly "m", there is the single m, the connected from the beginning and end m(could be in the middle of a word), the connected only in the beginning m(which means it's the last letter in a word), and the connected in the end only m(which means it's the first letter in the word).
so for the letter "meem" or "m" there are 4 m's ! and because i don't know how to make the iphone understand that it only views the first one, thats why all the letter were not connected, when i changed a couple of them, they connected, but when they didn't need to connect they also connect (gives the - with the letter), look at the picture, you might understand now ...

i just need help from a font expert...

I saw some Thai person talking about mapping the characters, for example, he open the website in "uncoded" characters, and open another window with the Arabic Incoding, and he opens the font file and copy and paste each character.
    see here for more info:
    http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/show...ghlight=arabic

I will follow this post because it is VERY important to me to be able to read arabic SMS's.

can you give me the way to make it able to see arabic text rather thhan squares? even if it was left to right (LTR)... it is better than nothing
