My iPhone: Nothing on my springboard and it says iPod
My iPhone just totally got messed up when I was trying to customize it with the app Customize (version 1.3, downloaded from Installer today). The Wifi shows that it is connected and the time and battery are at the top of the screen, but nothing else is on the screen (except a grey bar at the bottom, a bit smaller than the dock).
I am using an iPhone version 1.1.1 that I bought last week and unlocked using iNdependence 1.2.5. The iPod still works (there is no shortcut to it but I can get to it by double tapping the home buttom) and it still can receive calls.
Does anyone know what is going on? This is going to be a big problem if I cannot find a fix for it. I've tried reseting, hard reseting, and deactivating and reactivating with iNdependence 1.2.5 so far and nothing did anything. Please help.

I dont like the way customize plays with 1.1.1 and there doesnt seem to be a solution on it yet. There are some thereads here that will help you fix it, but i found i had to do a restore as i had also turned off SSH.
If you dont want to do a restore your going to have to search the threads here to find the solution.

I thought if I clicked on restore in iTunes that it would brick my phone or something bad (but I am probably just paranoid). Is that the restore you are referring to? I have no problem in doing that, just as long as I am 100% sure that it won't brick my phone any further. (Note that I bought the phone as 1.1.1 and so I never modified the baseband in case that matters.)
PS, thanks a lot for the reply, I am stressed about the phone right now..

Yes clicking on restore will be fine. You will then have to go through the entire process of downgrading and upgrading again to activate. Thats exactly what i had to do and it all went fine. If you have unlokced with anysim it survives the retore process without a problem
I only had to do all this as i had turned off SSH and couldnt SSH into my phone to fix the problem file. If you have SSH active and can follow some instructions you may want to try to save it beofre you restore it.

With your advice, I searched the forums again (I already looked, but I didn't know what to look for before) and found a fix and it worked! Thanks so much!!
I am still interested in doing a restore though, because I have done so much fiddling around with my phone, I feel like there are a few things that may still be fidgety and I would like to just have a factory fresh restart. You said it works fine, but do you know what it does? Does it restore it back to where you need to activate it from scratch just the same as if was fresh out of the box?
Thanks again
