you guys gotta buy a impact resistant case.... i have the casemate leather case, dropped it a dozen times, not one mark or any borken components... i once dropped it coming outta my friends hummers, which is like 3 feet off the ground, just some scratches on the case, but no damage

I also dropped mine on the switch - purely cosmetic damage but still annoying!

teamsnowysnowerson - i don't think doing a "reset all settings" will affect your unlock at all, you'll just have to go through all the preferences again and set them up.

However I also don't think it will help you to get the ring back, sounds like it is stuck on silent and until you can get the switch to register that it's back to ring setting then it will stay off (ie. you can power off and back on while it's switched to silent and it doesn't start ringing again, there must be many checks in software to disable rings on startup and initial setup).

The silent switch is only a outer switch that attaches to a smaller microswitch that's part of the headphone jack assembly. You probably just damaged that connection to the microswitch. You need to pop off the back cover to see what damage there is and order the parts you need off somewhere like ifixit.com or ebay if you can find it.

I dropped mine, even installed in a case and it dinged up the corner right at the silence button...

My case got a little dent right in the corner and it made the metal right above the silence button dent outwards. I put it against the edge of my desk and pushed the dent back in and it looks and works fine. Still a dent/scratches on the corner, but everything still works!

I really like the black backs that I saw on a few sites (that the whole back of the case would be black), I may upgrade at some point.

Default [Merged] Dropped iPhone, how to repair a damaged ringer/silence button ?

    Hi Folks,

It seems that one of the iPhones I sold, fell and its "Ring / Silent" button doesn't work any more.

It is stuck in "Silent mode".

Is there a way to put the iPhone back into "Ring Mode" without opening it?

    Thanks!

i dont think that is possible since this button and the feature is a hardware button and not a software problem..
u could try to pinch it using a small needle or something ...
    best u can do.
