[Megathread] Get A Refund/Credit From Apple For iPhone Price Drop
Apparently many people over here (and elsewhere) are pissed at the price drop of the
iPhone. As of today, the 8 GB iPhone is 399$ instead of 599$. A whopping 200$ drop.
The 4 GB iPhone is no more, that is now only 8GB will be available.
I have just got my iPhone 6 days ago and paid for it the 599$ retail price. I am in
Germany and a friend of mine was visiting Washington DC last week, so I asked him to
get me an 8 GB one. Having your just-bought shiny gadget drop more than 30% in price
is pretty harsh, and does indeed make anyone feel backstabbed.
It looks like, as well, that some people have had success already in getting
in-store credit or some kind of compensation from Apple for the price drop. Apple
mentions on its website what is called "a price protection policy":
"Should Apple reduce its price on any shipped product within 10 calendar days of
shipment, you may contact Apple Sales Support at 1-800-676-2775 to request a
refund or credit of the difference between the price you were charged and the current
selling price. To receive the refund or credit you must contact Apple within 14 business
days of shipment."
Many threads have been created about this topic already, but hopefully this thread will
contain helpful information to anyone seeking to get refund or credit from apple
regarding the iPhone price drop. Unfortunately, many of the guys over here on the forums
are from outside the US and getting a refund/credit might be difficult.
So if you have any information on how to contact Apple regarding this issue, please
post it here. Also mentioning how did you buy your phone, and where are your located
will be very helpful.
Please try to keep it civil and stay on topic.
No need for this-is-what-happens-when-you-are-an-early-adopter posts either.

Less than 14 days ago I purchased a 4GB Refurbished iPhone for Apple for $399. When I activated it with the iTunes hack, I lost my WiFi. Last week they sent me a new refurbished one. I decided I would not open it until a software hack comes out. Anyway, after today's price drop I called and complained. They stated that they are offering a $50 credit for the 4GB iPhone. I told him that would be the same price as an 8GB iPhone. So since I did not open it, I am returning the 4GB and purchased an 8GB while I was on the phone with him.
On top of all that, when I was on the phone with Apple last week, my customer service representative was horrible. When they emailed me a customer service survey, I told the truth. The next day Apple called me to ask what they can do to make my experience with Apple better. By the end of the conversation, they credited $50 back to my credit card.
That is my experience.

See above...
I would like to see a two month price guarantee on the iPhones.
Someone has to pay the early adopter's "tax"
Actually someone did call Apple, mentioned on another thread, and was told that there might be a refund but offered no other explanation.
Maybe one of our American cousins could call the customer service department @ 1-800-MY-APPLE
