    Default Manual Contacts restore

ok, long story short, I normally sync with itunes but got a new exchange email with my university. There is no way to sync the exchange account through outlook (I have tried my damnedest) and I want to manually update my contacts through ssh on my iPhone so they upload to the exchange server.

I am running 2.1 and the filesystem is no longer as sensible as 1.1.4. So...Where are my contacts on the 2.1 filesystem? And is this possible?

The contacts database is still in /var/mobile/Library/AddressBook/AddressBook.sqlitedb. How to sync that if you can't sync it... no idea.

Installing Cydia programs on a phone that has no internet connection: read this.

Editing binary .plist, .strings, .nib and .xib files:
    * on your computer: Windows tool / conversion website.
    * on your iPhone: convert those files in a terminal with plutil (installed with Erica Utilities) or edit them with iFile (Cydia links).

Yep, it is possible just drag and drop with WinSCP or
any other SSH Client the two files you find here:

    /private/var/mobile/Library/AddressBook

and remember the property 0644 thats all.

I resynced my contacts with itunes and made a copy of the file. And then I reset my exchange contacts sync...and manually copied the contact list back over.

This added all of my contacts back in and they work just fine. But I don't think they uploaded to the exchange server :/

You reset Exchange contacts sync. Does that mean that Exchange now thinks there has never been a synchronization? I think that's probably what it does. So you're still in the same situation you were in at post #1: you want to sync with Exchange but the syncing isn't configured so you can't... I guess you'll have to talk to the people who made syncing with iPhones impossible (I'm thinking an IT administrator or Bill Gates).
