Default for the love of jesus christ, i need advice and help!!! dropped phone

Im canadian, bought an iphone in seattle.
Unlocked the phone its been working great. today i dropped the phone for the first time, and i so happened to drop it almost completely on the ringer silence switch on the top left hand corner. (dont ask me how this happened, its bad enough)

the switch now sticks because the metal is bent, and my phone is stuck where the ringer is off, even if i switch it on, it doesnt work...would a restore maybe help?? the phone is not broken, everything works, but the ringer.

what should i do? take it to the apple store at home, see if they can help? go back to apple in the states? what happens in these situations?? the fact that is unlocked shouldnt make any difference right, its completely unrelated to the problem, uhhhgggggggggggggggggggggggggg

any other suggestions??? thank sooo much

Yikes!! I feel for you buddy. I guarantee you the apple store here in Canada won't do squat for you. I don't know how technically competent you might be.... but here's a link to a great site that gives you step by step (images) instructions to replace iphone parts. They also sell the individual parts. Wish I could help more...

keep playing with the switch untill you get the ringer back , or even try to switch it after opening the case, once you get the ringer back be happy its not totally dead. I don't think apple will help if there are signs it has been dropped, they may offer to fix it for a price though

what about a full restore through itunes? maybe this will reset everything if the bump made the iphone screw up or get confused to what was happening with the switch???

Sorry, but generally speaking electronic devices don't get "confused", and even when software problems do generate unintentional behavior, dropping a phone wouldn't cause them. If you dropped your phone on the ringer switch, and the ringer stops working, your switch is broken or jammed. Walks like a duck, quacks like a duck...

Try opening the case and examining the ringer. If you find the problem, then you're in luck... if you don't, Apple isn't going to care if you dropped it and opened it, or just dropped it. You're going to end up paying out of pocket to fix it regardless.

Exact same thing happened to me about a week ago. Dropped it and it landed on the edge of the volume down switch, denting the back of the case and causing the phone to turn down all the time. For some reason though, when I went into the menus to the sound option it stopped lowering the volume. Kinda weird...

Anyway, as advised earlier get along to www.ifixit.com. You need the rear panel (obviously) and some iPod opening tools. The black buttons for the volume switches are part of the case. Problem is getting the bitch open, persevere and give yourself a good 1.5 hrs cause you need patience to get the back off, change out the headphone kit and replace it.

End of the day its all good now, but the switch feels loose. If you need any help gimme a shout.
