a friends iphone seems to be bricked i think...

- it tries to reboot in a loop
- stays with the apple logo for a while and then tries to reboot, stays with the apple logo...a.s.o.
- with holding the home+start button, we get it into restore mode

but:

- restore with itunes won´t work... when "preparing iphone to restore" (we used german itunes, maybe it is called little different), the iphone reboots and stays with apple logo... after a few minutes, itunes shows up "error 1603" (sometimes 1604)
- tried different itunes versions, different firmware versions, on pc and also on mac...

getting it into dfu-mode with ibrickr worked, we get the white screen... but same error code from itunes anyway...

even ziphone won´t get "into it"...

another problem is, that my friend couldn`t even say, which fw is currently on it... first problems started with 1.1.1, but the restore seemed to be worked "halfways", because after making the "push both buttons..."-thing, we`ll see the itunes logo with the cable... a sign for at least 1.1.2, isn`t it?!


someone got an answer to this problem?? or even a hint to work with?
is there a way to force the restore without letting itunes prepare anything stupid??

have you tried running iplus or swtiching cables

yes, iplus didn`t work either...
we tried with iphone cable and also with an ipod cable... also from different usb connectors...

the reason why I said switch cables is because me and a few other senior memeners spent a few hours dealing with the same thing and it turned out to be the cable, what error or errors does iTunes give you ?

"the iphone could not be restored. an unknown error occured" mostly error 1603, sometimes 1604...

try turning the comp off then on, or try turnning the iPhone off and plugging it to the pc to power up and see what iTunes says

already done... nothing different, itunes reacts with same error message...

you could have ibrickr try and downgrade it, maybe try the activate on the 1.1.2 jailbreak , try and have ziphone do it all or put it in nn a diffrent mode, have iplus try and downgrade the bootloader

already tried everything you suggest...

try and have ziphone do it all or put it in nn a diffrent mode --> tried every 4 modes (including refurbish), waited for min 15-20 minutes, nothing worked...

have iplus try and downgrade the bootloader --> doesn`t work (tried, although it seemed only for 1.1.4)

even tried the old apptappinstaller.exe, but doesn`t work either...

you could try just letting the battery die or switching more cables . Do you know what the last thing you did to the phone before it got like that?
