Listen Buddy, You're Gonna Have To Learn To Hold It Longer Than That! (help Please)
Hey everyone, I'm trying to unlock my phone using the turbo sim method, and I'm trying to first jailbreak it, but after every time I do that holding down of HOME and POWER (until the 'please connect to itunes' screen appears) the whole system hangs, and doesnt work. and then I get the message above!
Can anyone help? I AM holding it down long enough (i.e. until the 'please itunes' screen comes up).

and you've setup the phonedmg folder in c:/ and have the jailbreak program there? itunes is closed... when you first go to the cmd prompt... and type cd phonedmg <ENTER> and then type jailbreak... does it tell you sending files and then gives you the instructions for holding the home and power key 25 secs?

yeah i did all that, the jailbreak program tells me its sending files and i should hold the power and home buttons until i see the 'please connect to itunes' screen. so I hold them down until that screen comes up, then I release them and jailbreak then says 'sending more files, booting iphone,' but then nothing! it just hangs. and after god knows how long it then gives me the message iv written in the subject box. please help someone!

do i have to have the apple os restore file in the phonedmg as well? Its the only thing I havent done - but I'm assuming the os restore file isnt needed for jailbreak.
All i want to do is jailbreak and then activate. please help

Please learn to follow instructions step by step at a 100% precision level.
You're not at school or work here...you need to follow these instructions 100%.
This is why they're called instructions and not "do what you think is OK".
Jailbreaking is a piece of cake, if you can't even do THIS properly, you're wasting your time and you should wait for the unlock solution without playing around with your iPhone because you may brick it sooner or later.
A general hint for those who want to play around with the iPhone: if you need instructions, PRINT them out on your printer, so you read them easier.
Also use a pen to make a little mark at those steps you've already done succesfully.
This may sound like kiddy stuff but it really helps to avoid mistakes.

Yes I know,
I already have one turbo sim/phone combo up and running and am doing this for a friend, though the problem here is we are in the middle of nowhere on a dial-up connection and so the 95mb os restore file would take a day to download.
I was just wondering out of possibility, rather than out of ignorance and complacency. thank you though I'll try that

Actually, the jailbreak process is 'emulating' an itune's restore process (hence the recovery mode). That's why you need the firmware ...
have fun ...
