well.. as far as i know, iPhone isnt officially in Dubai yet, so how come they can sell an officially unlocked iPhone in a country that still doesnt have official iPhones locked or unlocked?
beside, as far as i know too, the difference between the two kinds is huge, about $200 for the locked ones in plans, and over $1000 for unlocked ones without plans, i've checked that on many European countries, and its always more than $1,000.
another thing: i've seen some Dubai iPhones, that ppl did buy claiming they paid little more ($50+) to get it for an official unlocked iPhone, but the minute they upgraded they were ****ed, i opened one of these "officially unlocked" claimed iPhones, and they had the "Turbo" sim solution wired to the logic board inside the iPhone itself, and theres no way you can know that without opening the iPhone itself..
and with all respect sir, if Apple/Mobile companies gonna make the unlocked iPhones costs only an extra $50, no one would stick for two years to a plan cuz he dont wanna pay $50 and get free..

well yeah the iPhone has not been launched "officially" yet in dubai, but both versions are available for purchase in the "black market", now ofcourse some of them are scammers, but some do actually sell the sealed package, and a friend of mine bought a sealed black 8GB iphone for 3500AED (about $960), and yes it was officially unlocked i checked it myself when he gave it to me to jailbreak it. I restored the device, swaped in my Etisalat SIM card, and viola! iTunes automatically activated the phone...

I can vouch for the turbsim bit.
Know at least 10 guys who picked up their Iphones in Dubai my brother brought in 6 of those.
    All where with Turbo Sim.

They say its unlocked but dont tell you how.

There is a very big diffrence between offically unlocked iphone which you can upgrade without issues and what some shop claims is unlocked.

I think we just save our friend Husain some money.

You can buy the turbo sim yourself for less than 50$

    Default Legally Unlocked iPhone

You can buy a Legally Unlocked iPhone from Buy.com - Computers, Electronics, Digital Cameras, Books, DVDs, Music, Games, Software, Toys, Sports and never worry about it being locked or having to use Jailbreak. You can also buy Legally Unlocked phones from many countries in Europe, Hong Kong, Mainland China. Yes the price is high but if you live in the US you will not have to deal with ATT which rips you.
There is a lot of MIS-information on this thread because too many of you are clueless.
