So, what LCD version does Your iPhone have?
You can check it out by "Calling" "*3001#12345#*"
5755136 is the best, 7455232 seems to be the worst and 7459072 is good.

I guess I must truly be mistaken then. I was told that the 7 series screens were actually better, but I keep hearing conflicting reports. I think that people should stop worrying about it. I mean, seriously, as long as you're satisfied with the quality of your screen, what does it matter what version it is?

BTW, 7455232 over here as well. I bought mine on 7/7/07 from the Walt Whitman, NY apple store.

EDIT: Yeah, I must of read wrong or something, as I reread all the posts, it seems that the 7 series is the "lower quality" one. But I checked out my screen specifically, and I can't see any problems at all. When I pump it up to full brightness, the screen looks amazingly clear and bright, so bright in fact that it's uncomfortable to use. And I see absolutely no grid patterns, i'm being completely honest. My opinion still stands: stop looking for problems to bitch about.

Mine is 7455232 but i dont see anything wrong with it at all. Of the many iPhones i have delt with mine is one of few that doesnt get that distorted ripple effect when pressed upon heavily that lcd screen on laptops and tvs get. When the screen is off and there is a bright light shining on it as a certain angle you can lightly see the touch grid on it but thats is ONLY when the screen is off.

What is it that makes one version better than another?

5755136 good old Florida bargain. Panel Version can also be obtained from the field test application - versions.

Would be nice to have the panel versions from those iphones who went back to apple ;-)

    Lightbulb

I would like to clarify something.

I have unlocked 8+ iPhone since launch and I have seen the differences between the screens.

type A is brighter and more of a blue white. it does not have the dots the appear in the dark areas. however they have a "rough" feel to them the are not as smooth as type B

type B is duller and yellow white. they have the dots in the dark areas. however the feel is smooth.

I use my iPhone a lot and prefer the smoother screen. navigating, flicking just feels better. I have not kept tract of the model numbers but I have noticed the two different versions.
