Default A (Kind) Word on Trash

    Hey Everyone,

I've seen a lot of people on here "trashing" (sorry about the pun) Trash, and frankly, that's rather upsetting. Since I'm sure someone will point this out, late late on Monday night Trash gave me an unlock while he was waiting for the huge 1250 batch of unlocks to be released by IPSF. Although this may appear to be "queue jumping", I see it as serving two purposes. The first, to please at least one of the about 20 people who were waiting up at about 2am in hopes of unlocking their phone. The second, was to prove to those who were starting to doubt the process that it does in fact work.

Trash has kindly offered to donate all of the money he has taken in to the iPhone dev team. Some people then say, "Well, why can't I get a refund, then?". Well, he's not donating -all- the money, most likely. He had to pay IPSF a good chunk of the change he took in for the unlock, and it's the money that he would have originally taken in as profit that he is donating. So he can't go about refunding everyone, because that would have to then come out of his pocket, so he's doing the next best thing.

Just as people were unjustifiably mad about the iPhone price drop, they're mad about a free unlock coming out after they paid for theirs. However, it is important to realize that this is the way things are, it was obvious that this would happen eventually, whether it be a day or two weeks after the software was released. I'm certainly not pleased with how IPSF has handled everything, but as far as Trash himself, I couldn't be more happy. Any beef anyone has with him can be excused by the fact that the guy has likely never run a business before, or at least not one on this scale. This all came together super quickly, and I'm sure it all originated from him wanting to unlock his own phone while at the same time helping others. If you've been here a lot, you'll know he has had very little sleep over the past little while trying to make everyone happy. Now, all of the profits from this hard work are going to the dev team, and all that came out of it was an unlock for his own phone and a lot of people spitting out insults at him. That's inexcusable, and I hope I'm not the only one whose going to take some time out of their day to show some gratitude towards the guy for trying his best, and doing what he could when things took an unexpected turn.

So, on behalf of the quiet majority of people who are not screaming at Trash, I'd like to say thank you for all your hard work, and the honorable donation of the funds to the dev team. To the rest of you, quit bickering -- you all have your unlocks now in one form or another. Yeah, maybe you won't get that fifty bucks back, but it could be you out fifty bucks, or Trash paying thousands of people out of his own pocket. This isn't Steve Jobs here, he can't just throw gift certificates out at people without blinking an eye.

    Cheers,

Riddle me this then Batman... How is he able to get you pushed ahead of everyone else? It's not like he has a batline to the group.... unless he was in on the entire thing. Think about it, he gives a few random people an unlock out of no where. How could he do this if he did not have direct access of some sort to the server that houses the authentication? So he is able to do one or two at a time but then a chunk of people have to sit on their hands. You're a tool.

    UM BULLSHIT ACTUALLY.

Trash got cought up/out in a scam. Its BULLSHIT he was "helping" people out. He saw an opportunity to make money and he ran to it with open arms. If he was "helping" people he would have sold the licences at cost.

To make matters worse what Trash is now doing is selling stolen goods to try and cover his ass.

To dig an even deeper hole he is saying he will not refund any money and will challenge anyone who does lodge a dispute.

Its not right. Its not how the cummunity operates.

I didnt get an IPSF licence thankfully, i could see the hype bubbling and something didnt smell right to me.

no matter how many Trash support threads coming out there is one lesson here to be learned fpr both buyers and sellers: caveat emptor!

Sell the license at cost? Why would he? He knew ahead of time there would be a lot of hard work ahead, a guy's gotta make a living. Lots of people are paid for doing jobs they legitimately care about, and they're more than willing to accept that payment. What do you think the iPhone dev team needs all that money for, and they likely have way more money than Trash made from this, at least now that the unlock is out and donations are flying in left right and center.

The reason he can't refund the money is because IPSF likely will not refund his money. It's as simple as that. I doubt the guy is loaded or anything.
