Default Jailbroken iPod touch 4G not restoring?

So I had jailbroken it some time ago using limera1n, I am currently on 4.1. And I due to my battery life being really crap I wanted to send it off to Apple care. Now I decided to erase all settings and data because I didn't want them to see that it was jailbroken as I read somewhere that it voids the warranty. So after doing that it was stuck on A apple logo and a circle in the middle, so I put it in DFU mode again and tried to restore but then I kept getting 3194 error, as far as I understand that means that my firmware isn't being signed by apple anymore? So I tried sn0wbreeze + iReb but still no luck. Tried changing the host file but still no luck then I tried tinyumbrella and that gets me as far as the restore being completed but as soon as I click 'OK' iTunes says that it has found a iPod touch in recovery mode etc. What should I do? Any help will be really appreciated!

Apple no longer signs 4.1 restores. If you didn't save your SHSH for this specific device with TinyUmbrella or via Cydia's "make my life easier" program then you can never restore to 4.1 again.

Any replacement device from Apple will likely only be able to restored to 4.2.1 (or whatever the current iOS version is when you get your device replaced under warranty).

I'd restore to 4.2.1 - set it up as new (and not jailbroken) and see if the battery life improves. If it doesn't send it off for repair.
