    Default Jailbroken iPhone, no access

We have an iPhone that is "jailbroken", and is password protected by a "finger swipe" combination.

We need to bypass this to gain access to the phone. I.T. says that the phone needs to be jailbroken, which upon showing them, they advised us that it is already jailbroken. We were told we can now use iPhone Explorer, which we did. We have access to a lot of files, including photos, but no root access, which is what we were told we would need in order to delete the "password file".

We were told to install "Cydia". First, we don't have access to the phone, so that's not plausible... it seems we're presented with a paradox. Second, for all we know, the phone may already have "Cydia".

If this is against the rules of this forum, I apologize. Long story short, I can assure you we are not breaking any laws, but at the time we are getting nowhere fast. I'm far from a "tech guy", it's not my job. But I'm doing the best I can to get this job done.

In what general direction to do we need to take in order to bypass this password? If it helps, we don't technically need access to the phone, just access to a certain file on the phone.

    Regards,
    Kevin

I suppose there is no way to access the root on a jailbroken phone, if we don't know the jailbreak version?
