Jailbreak a native and original 1.1.2 with O2
Hi guys!
I'm wondering if there is a guide on how to jailbreak so that i can upload installer.app on my iPhone which I bought in UK and legally opened a contract with O2. I just wanna jailbreak it to download installer.app so that i can use more programs, is it possible and is there a guide for it?
thx!

I am still confused on a few things though if anyone can clear these questions up.
1. Do I need to activate my phone and thus SIM with O2 with iTunes before running any downgrade/jailbreak etc, or do I do this afterwards?
2. If I jailbreak my phone, will everything still work ok with O2 afterwards, i.e. will youtube and google maps still work ok as it would out of the box? will I still get the unlimited data and edge connection.
3. Is it possible and straightforward for me to Virginise my iPhone at a later date i.e. when Apple are approving the instalation of custom apps....I dont want to jailbreak and then not be able to go back easily.
Thanks guys
hope to hear back

if you follow the gudie you wont have to have the offical contract you can just put in a pay as you go o2 sim and it works fine and so does al the other things (youtube etc)
I have a otb 1.1.2 uk and it works with my uk o2 sim pay as you go but not my irish pay as you go

But I want to use the sim card/contract that comes with it, so am I right in saying I must register this with iTunes and select a calling plan before jailbreaking?
Most people are doing jailbreaking when they are then going to use their own sim card not the one that comes with it from the official retailer; this oes not require registration through iTunes, thus I want to make sure it is ok for me to jailbreak.
If anyone can confirm I would appreciate it. Likewise if someone could answer the other questions I have that would be good

I dont think it will mater as they record the sim number and imei as activated so really its up to you

If you want to sign up for an O2 iPhone contract then you have to activate it with itunes online first officially as after running the jailbreak it will be activated permanently and only a restore again will get you back to activation amd if it doesn't take you to the activation page you cannot sign up for a contract!
If however you want to stick you existing O2 SIM be it contract or PAYG in then you CAN'T activate it in iTunes anyway as it will ONLY officially activate NEW contract SIMS.
What you want to do is download the 1.1.1 firmware and get the phone into DFU mode then restore to the 1.1.1 then use jailbreakme.com to activate and install installer then install oktoprep and UPDATE to 1.1.2 and then run the jailbreak program and it will work with any O2 SIM card.
VIRGINIZING has NOTHING to do with Jailbreaking! it has to do with SIM unlocking with is NOT possible on OTB UK phones at this time!
Remmeber Jailbreaking bypasses iTunes activation and lets you install 3rd party apps but you are STILL locked to O2 in the UK.

Ok.
Thanks for your help, think I've been getting confused by all the different guides for different situations.
I will be registering with and O2 contract, so I will do this with iTunes prior to jailbreaking.
Once I have jailbroken the phone, is it possible for me to un-jailbreak it?
If the phone is jailbroken, what would be the outcome of upgrade to a future firmware upgrade such as 1.1.3 when it’s out? Would the phone cease to work, I would the ability to install custom applications just be stopped.
Sorry for all the questions, really appreciate the help so far.

A restore will put it back to factory original settings and it will NOT be jailbroken anymore.
If you upgrade to 1.1.3 or whatever the next update is then it will no longer be jailbroken and it will just be like an out the box phone. The jailbreak will not effect the update in anyway so it is safe to update if you want to.
