Jailbreak.jar not running
I was on 111 and installed OktoPrep. Then I updated and when I try to run the last step of the Jailbreak process nothing happens. I'm on a G4 but it says PPC is supported.

I installed the latest OSX release, but can't find a usable Java VM to install.

Because you try to directly execute jailbreak.jar, which is the wrong method.
First, you must put the jailbreak folder on the desktop and make sure you didn't changed its name.
Second, start the terminal, type:
Press space bar once and drag/drop the jailbreak folder on the terminal window, select the terminal window and press ENTER.
Then type this:
Code:
java -jar jailbreak.jar

Thanks, that's the trick and slightly more helpful than "on Mac, double click on jailbreak.jar" that the Conceited read me has.

Hi, hope you don't mind me asking here since my post seems to be being neglected...When I run the jailbreak.jar app (with SSH checked), it goes through the initial steps, but then hangs on "reading flash media". I've tried numerous times with reboots, and the task bar never gets close to completing. I tired the process you outlined here with the same results. Any ideas?
Thanks...

Are you on PC or Mac ?
On Mac, you must put the jailbreak folder on the desktop and make sure you didn't changed its name.
On Windows, you must put the jailbreak folder on c:\ and make sure you didn't changed its name.

Why is it necessary to put it in C:\ on windows?
I put mine in D:\iphone and it worked just fine....

Because the jailbreak can fail if you are using it in windows with a folder path that is not in english. (e.g arabic, chinese, hebrew, japanese, korean, russian...)
So with C:\ you are 100% sure if you have a problem, it doesn't come from this.
