    Default iWorld in Ireland

I had a chance to mess with an iphone which had been broken out of Jail, had a Turbo Sim and iworld installed the other day in Ireland.

I noticed that the dialing configuration was incorrect for the majority of the country. Yes it is perfect for Dublin (01) XXXXXXX, but for the rest the country it does not have the brackets i.e. 021XXXXXXX (cork dialing prefex). In Ireland 01 area is the only two numeral prefix I am aware of. Cork - 021, Galway - 091, letterkenny - 074 XXXXXX etc... The vast majority of the country has 3 numerals as the prefix, a 6 or 7 digit number.

Is anyone aware if there is a fix for this?

05786 thats my prefix for laois or is it only 057? Who knows who cares,
I dont think there is a fix
my iphone does'nt have any brackets witch is strange but ok for me,,

It could be that the prefix's only changed a year ago?
    But again i dont know!

The normal for a prefix now in Ireland is 3 numerals and then the number itself has 7 digits. There still is some areas working on the old four digit prefix and 5 digit number.

Normally its not an issue, but it would be nice to have the bracket thing working. If you input a dublin number it maintains consistency. It seems like a trivial thing, but in the Mac address book you can set it, and therefore there might a sync issue with it and the iphone! I need to confirm this.

I am sure there is a simple fix for it somewhere.

The simple answer is yes you can! But you need a Hardware unlock. There is NO software unlock ATM, but there are many hardware such as Turbosim, Hypersim, etc.... I have seen a UK iphone working with Irish network.

This is off topic, so back on topic - You will need to install iWorld to get the iPhone operating in Ireland without crashing, hence the issue with the prefix

The simple answer is NO let me write that again so its clear
    THE ANSWER IS NO

Turbosim and the likes DOES NOT unlock you iphone it just tricks your iphone its NOT an unlock!

I have seen a UK iphone working with Irish network.
And i have one using hypersim but its not unlocked!

On what network are you using it? (AT&T, Orange France, O2 UK or Y-Mobile Germany) If its not on one of these, then the iPhone is HW unlocked. That is where a device is used to unlock the iPhone. If the phone was truly locked you would not be able to use it on any other network.

How the HW unlock works is it fools the iphone into thinking it is a genuine card from one of the providers. This card needs to be programmed with certain data to do this. Hypersim are purchased pre-programmed, turbo sim can be purchased pre-programmed or blank (the end user programs it).

The meaning of unlocked (can be HW or SW) is that it can be used on any network. If for example you can put a vodafone or TIM sim card into it and it works, then its unlocked.

The good thing about these HW unlocks is that it does not alter the baseband or bootloader of the iphone. All that is required is that the iphone be jailbroken (which can be reversed with a restore).

thanks for telling me what I already knew,
but turbosims DONT unlock your phone they trick your phone that's all.

If the phone was truly unlocked you wouldnt have to butcher a sim card to get it to work!

Turbosim and the likes = 1 sim to be used with some cutting not a full/true unlock
Anysim = ANySIM with no cutting and no piece of hardware FULL unlock ANY sim can be used!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !

I have an 02 Ireland sim on my iPhone (posting from it now) using hypersim but its NOT unlocked its just fooled

The definition of locked is, prevent operation.
Network locked - Locked to specific network.

If I am not mistaken, a turbo, hyper, sonic, stealth etc... sim allows iphone to operate on any network! Therefore it allows the the iphone to be unlocked (or as you prefer tricked). Nevertheless it bypasses the lock.

And the problem with this is? IS the sim rendered useless? can it be used in another phone?

In my mind all you are doing is cutting away some plastic.

Instead you butcher the baseband/bootloader of the iphone! You are replacing this with an unauthorized piece of software. This is the most dangerous thing you could do to the iphone as when you reflash it, you may render it useless. Yes there is no cutting or hardware involved, but yet it is a more violent approach to unlocking. Its easy to think it does not involve any violence, as you can not see what you are doing. Basically you are wiping an area of the iphone, that it was not intended to be touched (unless via authorized FW updating), and reflashing with third party solution! What happens if all data is not wiped off before the reflash? - Corruption of the system!

For me the safest solution is the Sims. These might, fool or trick the iphone, but nonetheless they unlock it to be used on any network!
