    Default iUnlock/AnySim -> IPSF and 1.1.1

    Alright, if I see one more retard post "ZOMG!!11 how does I do it if I haxx0red my fone with iUnlock/Anysimzzzz??!?!" I am going to shot myself in the goddamned face.

    That being said, if you unlocked your phone with iUnlock or AnySim, go to the site below and follow the steps. You need to restore you baseband and then unlock with IPSF, THEN you can update to 1.1.1 and jailbreak and activate.

    http://andreas.louca.org/2007/09/30/...unlock-frenzy/

    Keep in mind that this is only if you can't wait to have 1.1.1 any longer. I myself updated with iUnlock and I am going to wait until the DevTeam comes up with something before I do any reflashing... I don't care for the iTunes Music Store that much.. (read: at all)

    Please, oh please god please let all the noobs see this...

    I just got the SimFree.app
    Opened the package and it contains some interesting things.

    Contents
    Default.png background.png button_up.png kill sh
    Info.plist bbsimfree icon.png rm

    I wonder what is bbsimfree for...

    The iPhone is a very public device, it's to be expected. Most the people here have spent a fortune on a device and then gone over there own heads trying to hack it. Something goes wrong, they panic and post before thinking things through. Most of them probably have never used a forum before. I try to just point them to existing topics to help them out. We are lucky to be able to work things out for ourselves, so it's not too hard to help out others who don't have a clue.

    Lets be honest, the search system on this forum is not exactly Google.

    bbsimfree is the actual mach-o executable. It's the meat of the application. The other stuff in the package are tools and images used by bbsimfree.

    aquanutz, please don't actually shoot yourself in the face, that would be a senseless waste and of course there are going to be many more that post new threads before searching the forum...

    as for that guide, yes, it's a good one. I followed it and it worked. Proof enough for me anyways
    just have a read, it isn't that long and it explains things very well!

    MuscleNerd - I think JSN1 may have been being sarcastic with the "I wonder..." comment the problem is that the IPSF software clearly communicates with the server for authorisation. It doesn't seem like you can run it without the iPhone being connected to the internet.
    Also I do have to be ethical on this one and say that hacking up the IPSF software so that you can use their unlock method without their authentication or whatever (there may even be more than two methods?) isn't really very nice of you ;
    but of course someone's going to release it sooner or later as not everyone has a strict moral code

    Huh? The IPSF software version 1.6 released yesterday will fix the baseband issues introduced by Anysim/Iunlock when run under 1.0.2, and then when you upgrade to 1.1.1 following the dev team's jailbreak and activate method it remains unlocked. I don't think you need to do any other work to restore the baseband, the IPSF program does it.

    Read here for confirmation:

    not as far as I could tell mate.
    It would only fix the baseband issues if the phone was locked.
    mine was still on 1.0.2 and unlocked, and the IPSF software did run, but said my phone was already unlocked and went no further.
    If you don't want to have to cause a baseband failure (let's not call it "bricking" for now as I feel the term is incorrect) then you need to reflash the baseband to a locked version, then run IPSF 1.6, then upgrade to 1.1.1 - this (in my current opinion) is probably the best way to go about updating to 1.1.1.
    Just remember to run the IPSF software without your SIM in it as the IMEI went to locked down 0049... mode when the SIM was inserted after reflashing the baseband.
