    Question iTunes upgrade/restore never works..

Hi, im dealing with this iPhone for about a weeks now, never saw anything like this, heres the story:
i've got a 2G-8GB iPhone running 1.1.4, from the 1st day i tried to upgrade to 2.2 it gave me lots of problems, but managed to upgrade, pwn, everything worked fine at the end, until one day it froze on the phone app and never went back to the home screen by pressing the home button, the solution was of corse to rest it home+power, restarted, when it reach the home, there was no signal and no wi-fi, when i went to settings these options were gray dimmed, never saw anything like that.. tried rest, delete and reset, restore from backup, nothing helped, the signal never came back again nor wifi.
so the normal solution would be to restore, kicked it into DFU mode and restored using itunes, everything went fine, and it reached the end of the restore bar on iPhone display, and the itunes saying "restoring iphone software".. but never finishes.. kept waiting for more than an hour, nothing happen, restarted and restored again, same thing, so i kept it working until the next day, thought it needs longer than any other iphone, the next day there was an error that i cant remember its number now, i kept trying restoring on many different Mac's, USB cables, different systems, different iTunes, no luck, all ends with an error or never ends at all..
so i thought of downgrading, using itunes 7.5, DFU mode, i restored from to 1.1.4 it never finished again, it kept the window saying "restoring iphone software" running.. i waited for a long time, then got sick of it and stopped it, when restarted i saw the USB cable from the iPhone end icon, then i knew im on 1.1.4 now. with the help of kiphone, ziphone, i managed to go down to 1.1.4 with a working iphone, i have network signal, wifi working fine, can make calls, download using installer, browse.. everything went fine..
now i tried to upgrade to 2.2, back to same old problem, the itunes never finishes.. when i take the cable off after i wait a long time, itunes gives error number (9), and the iphone goes into restore mode under 2.2 and cant get it running again, until i go back to 1.1.4.
any one faced such a thing? any suggestions? solutions?

Hi. Try the following to fix itunes error 9:
Find and delete the following file on your computer: x12220000_4_Recovery.ipsw

If that doesn't work, I would completely uninstall itunes (including Apple Mobile Device Support) and then reinstall.

i guess i need to go down to 1.0.2 to do so, if this iPhone is 1.1.4 OTB, am i still able to downgrade?.. although im not really sure what OTB OS was it..
i actually thought of the virginize, might really help but i guess its gonna be a nightmare process and a dangerous one..
i tried the iErase.. maybe it erased the BaseBand? but kept the BootLoader?

just make sure the device is running on a firmware that bootneuter supports and download/install it from installer/1.x.x and from cydia/2.x.x, then run bootneuter and change the bootloader from there. Just make sure u set autolock to never (settings---->general----->autolock----->never) before flashing the bootloader/baseband.

    cheers

leave everything as it is, but change the bootloader version to 4.6 and hit flash. For the second time, do this at ur own risk and make sure to SET AUTOLOCK TO NEVER!!!! When the flashing is done try to DFU back to 2.2.1 and hope that things will work

    good luck!!!

    Question

tried that, 4.6, and flash, it toke a very long time to finish, but at the end it gave me an error: "bootloader was succesfully flashed, but flashing baseband returned an error".. the iphone kept working fine but lost signal, restarted, still works fine, but with no signal too.. opened the BootNeuter, the settings were as i last time out, @ 4.6, now changed to 3.9 flashed, and waiting it to finish..
    what does that error means?!

try erasing the baseband with kiphone and then DFU to 1.1.4, after that run bootneuter again with these settings:
    1- bootloader.....4.6
    2- fakeblank=off
    3- unlock=on
    4- neuter=on

this error may indicate a problem with ur baseband files, which is causing the error when restoring in itunes. So just erase the baseband, DFU to 1.1.4, and rerun bootneuter with the above settings. Btw it should take a long time and whatever happens do not interrupt the flashing process!!!and make sure u set autolock to never after the restore.
