iTunes stuck in Restore mode after restoring with 2.0.1
Happened to me last night and was very frustrating because restoring is a 3 hour process for me i guess because i have a lot of apps and pics and music.
I chose to Restore the software which reloaded the software back into the phone and rebooted. Then it gives the option to setup as new phone or restore from backup. I chose restore from backup and it went for 3 HOURS until it said completed and rebooted. Once it rebooted it brings you back to the option to setup as new phone or restore from backup
If you unplug from the computer, reboot the computer or reboot the phone... no matter what, when you plug the phone back in it will bring you to the screen to setup as new phone or restore from backup. if you restore from backup it wants to go through the whole restore process again!
I will mention that the phone it operational and looks to be fully restored... just when going into itunes, it will be stuck at the restore option.
I think i finally setup as a new phone because i wanted to get out of this loop and i didnt want to go thru 3 hours again but i didnt like that i was missing all my settings and stuff. So I took the laptop and phone to work to do this all again and did the whole restore process again hoping it was a fluke. NOPE... after restoring and restoring from backup it rebooted to the screen asking for setup as new phone or restore from backup.
I was ready to throw the phone against the wall.
But I did get around it :2thumbs: ... I reluctantly hit the restore from backup and a couple of seconds into running the restore again, i unhooked the phone and I see on the phone it says "RESTORE COMPLETE!!!" It reboots and brings me to the phone summary page!
I dont know if i was just lucky but i am NOT restoring again until the next sw upgrade! I haven't had any problems with any of the upgrades since I got the phone last christmas (1st gen). This was a terrible experience considering the time it takes to restore and backup/sync.
Just wanted to post my experience and see if anyone else had this problem.
If this happens again, you can erase the iPhone backup in iTunes preferences.
This may help in the set up process.
