    For 2.0.x cydia based installations (all jailbroken 2.0.x are cydia based installs) you need to install minicom with cydia. Type "minicom" on the search entry in cydia and install it.

    Also, my good friend Buzios, that created iGSM command line utility for the 1.x firmware has just made a GUI version of iGSM for the 2.0.x fw family. Besides automating the sending of AT commands to the baseband, it now has an option to query and set the "Own Number".

    We hope to get this out soon.

    I discovered that if you type *#5005*PHONE# and press "Call", it will show your number and name as stored on SIM card.
    We already know other codes that work, *5005*SMSC*<number># (stores SMSC number) and *5005*VM*<number># (stores voicemail number).
    However, *5005*PHONE*<?>*<?># expects at least two parameters. If we find out what these two parameters are (one of them must be the phone number), we'll be able to set own phone number in the most straightforward way possible.

    Well, when doing it thru AT commands it takes 2 parameters too: the number and the carrier name, that can be any thing you like.

    The "query" format return the "carrier" and "number", so we may try in that order. I do not know how to force the letters, but I'm sure it will work with numbers. I will give it a try and I'm testing the new iGSM and can fix this quite easy with the new GUI.

    aviegas,
    thanks mate... your steps worked on pwned 2.0.1

    I have some notes to add with regards to 2.0.1:
    1) the '-w' should be after loan/unload
    2) the moment I run unload, I loose my wifi connectivity; apple has changed the comm daemon that when u unload it, you loose wifi. I've tried using MobileTerminal, it doesn't display minicom correctly.
    so what I did:
    * run unload commCenter
    * reboot my iPhone; after reboot wifi is working but not commCenter
    * Continue the steps of minicom
    * load CommCeneter and reboot

    The "no WiFi" after CommCenter is brought down is well know in 2.0.x. Nice to know that after a reboot it will work though.

    To clarify for others, the "-w" option on launchctl will make the change "permanent", so it will survive the reboot. So both the "unload" and the "lock" must use the "-w".

    The new iGSM will not require a reboot and it can make changes directly from the GUI - it will be soon available thur cydia.

    The problem is - even after signing it with saurik's tool - once you issue any sendmodem "AT..." command it stays at
    Sending command to modem: AT
    ------------------------
    forever

    just to let you know ;-)

    There is a problem sending AT command in 2.x.
    The is a unreleased version of IGSM for 2.x (that has a nice UI) that I use for seting the own number, but it takes at least 3 or 4 attempts for it to work.

    So, try sendmodem at least 4 times in a row. Yes, it will take a long time to return with an error. Give this approach a chance.
