    5) Enter the following commands:

    AT+CPBS="ON"
    AT+CPBW=1,"XXXXXXXXXXXX",,"TTTTT"

    1) SSH to your phone. Do not forget to turn auto-lock off.

    2) Stop the CommCenter:
    launchctl -w unload /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist

    Hello aviegas,

I ssh to my iPhone successfully, then I got this error:

    # launchctl -w unload /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist
    Unknown argument: '-w'
    #

    Is there something wrong ?!

    had the same issue, do:

    launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist

same with the load command on the end. place -w after load and it will work.

Nicely done instructions ... unfortunately, all I ever got was ERROR responses to the first three commands. My SIM was protected. The phone is jailbroken but still locked. The 4th command just responed with blanks. Eventually, since my phone is a legitimate AT&T phone, I decided to try the 1-800-SOS-APPLE route. Restored the phone to factory settings. The 800# guy decided I neede a new phone. Sent to the Genius Bar at the local Apple Store. They fooled with it for a while, tried the SIM in a new phone. Etc. Mutual conclusion was SIM problem. Went to AT&T Store ... given a new SIM ... back to Apple to verify .. .ooops SIM not associated with phone, etc. Eventually called AT&T 800 number ... got SIM associated with my phone/number. Reactived the phone with iTunes. Finished the whole process. Now I have a number.

It seems likely that the IT person who activated my phone skipped some final step which left the phone working but not showing the phone number. So my advice ... if the above process doesn't work for you and you are an AT&T customer:
    a. Convince AT&T the SIM is bad and get a free replacement
    b. Call AT&T customer service to get the switch made in the data base
    c. Reactiveate the phone.

One last note, when this was all done and the phone again jail broken, I used the last command in the process above to verify I could read out the number.

And one question ... how did you figure out the AT commands?
