    Question [iTunes] Prevent it to auto-update to 1.1.3 ?

    I have two iphones (mine & gf) and I am scared itunes will auto update our phones. I have turned off auto update in iTunes and disabled the iTunes store. Do I need to have any more worries?

    Default iTunes and 1.1.3

    I have two iPhones (1.1.2) and I know 1.1.3 is out and I have disabled auto updates in iTunes and the iTunes store. Is there anyway my phone still might be updated?

    Using a Mac?

    do a chmod 400 on ~/Library/iTunes/Iphone Software Updates

    iTunes will not be able to save any downloads then (and no installs too, obviously)

    Kudos to German c't magazine for this tip.

    No, it won't happen. But even if it prompts you for an update, select NOT to do so.

    BTW... i think this should be moved somewhere else since it has nothing to do with unlocking
    iPhone: 8GB 1.1.2 OTB, Jailbroken
    update Jan 22/2008 -> x-SIM unlocked
    Update Feb 09/2008 -> S/W Unlocked
    Update Apr 29/2008 -> WinPwned/BootNeutered & sold :p

    New Toy: iPhone: 16GB 1.1.4 OTB, iLiberty (-ied) & then WinPwned/BootNeutered

    I think i might have double posted this... I am sorry. I tried from the iPhone and it was giving me an error and then I did it on the computer. Thank you for the answers though.

    yeah. You gotta put on a tin-foil hat to prevent apple from forcing the update on you. Its the only way. Put one on your cat too. Just to be safe.
