Default itunes and multiple ipods and iphones

I'm frustrated because i've run into a problem and its really cumbersome to fix.
i have several ipods and me and my girl both have iphones.

    we have one PC.

when i sync up my ipod, i can xfer music and videos to it w/o problems but if i connect her ipod it wont allow me to xfer music to it.

same with iphone. i literally need 1 PC per ipod/iphone in order to sync up the music and movies we want on them.

is it jsut me are is this really F%^*ing stupid on apple's part?

how does one copy over their music onto various ipods if you only have one PC. all our music is stored ont he PC. to fix i would need to create a virtual OS, then copy over all my music onto it to sync up but i find it hard to believe that apple did not think of this?

    Don't know what to say.

I currently have one PC that syncs with a 40GB iPod G3, an 80GB G5, a Touch and an iPhone.

No special settings just plugged them in and away it went.

Wish I could help with what's wrong at your end but at least I can tell you it definately works.

ah ok, thanks for the reply. if it works for ya then it miust be windows vista or something.

when i try to sync up more than 1 iphone to my PC, itunes comes back with a message saying it wont sync up because this is not the same one and if i continue it wants to wipe everything off.

i wish i could add movies, playlists and wallpapers to multiple iphones from multiple PCs

ie. one at work, one at home and one at my friends house, he rips alot of movies so it would be nice to dock my iphone and xfer over some movies he has.

The iPhone can only be synched with one itunes library.

    BUT

you can get around that with the iphone app Swap Tunes

i looked on the apple forums and found this...
To listen to another account's music files:
    Open iTunes.

From the iTunes menu, choose Preferences.

    Click Advanced.

Deselect the "Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library file" option.

    Click OK.

From the File menu, choose Add File to Library. Note: Windows users can also choose Add Folder to Library to add a folder of songs.

Navigate in the Add File To Library window to the location where the other user's music is saved (the iTunes Music folder in the case above).

    Click Open.

Repeat these steps for each account that is listening to shared music.

When another user of the computer has imported new music from CD, repeat steps 6 through 8 to add the music to your library.

would you say this is a viable way to sync up another library since you say it can not be done, yet apple says it can be done.
