Default Itunes Error: Cannot contact Upgrade Service...FM 1.1.1 is coming soon!

Apple seems like they're getting ready to start distributing the new FM! Their update server was just offline for 5 minutes. It's back up now probably with the new FW. I assume that after a bit of testing to see if everything works, it will release....

I have had this error many times before, I dont think its indicative of a firmware coming. Could be, but not necessarily.

Yes. Someone has to do it. Have the N95 fully charged and a baby pin ready to make the switch in the event that....

I'm not too worried though. I think that it's going to be a lot less painful that everyone is making it out to be.

I would suggest you to try the other way first (virgin-> 1.1.1-> iUnlock/anySIM). At least lesser chance of bricking the iphone and you can let the dev team know if their unlock still works for 1.1.1

I doubt you will even be able to jailbreak the 1.1.1 phones as none of the software ibricker, apptap or winstaller has the ability to work with 1.1.1 firmware
so there is no chance you will hear of anyone unlocking it quickly

the most you will hear is people brick their modem firmware trying to update a unlocked phone

people are yet to jailbreak the ipod touch as they havn't unlocked the image yet.
when using apptap it asks you what firmware you use and 1.1.1 is not in the list.
ibricker is only designed to work up to 1.02 and the same with winstaller all these methods rely on the unlock key to open the image file and allow changes to the image that is how a jailbreak is possible. as it will be very hard to crack the new firmware image code it will definately take a while most likelly at least a week or two after its out. as the ipod touch image has been out for three weeks and still noone has cracked it or worked out how to jailbreak it.

I don't think update is ready. Please be patient.
