    Default iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPhone... wtf?

    Hey ppl,

    Yesterday, everythin was hunky dory. This morning when I reconnect my iPhone to my macbook, iTunes throws me an error message;

    "iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPhone "XXX". Got o the Summary tab in the iPhone preferences and lick Restore to restore this iPhone to factory settings."

    ...which I would if it wasn't for the fact that it doesn't show up in iTunes at all. Umm yeah.. reboot of iphone and macbook didn't help, neither did reinstalling iTunes.

    Any ideas?

    Oh yeah, should mention that I used iActivator 1.0.3 to get it running. There are no problems with the phone itself.. I can use the WiFi, mail, safari, ipod... iTunes just don't want to play with it.

    Also, I can use inphonteinterface to access it. Thinking about using iphoneinterface and execute enterrecovery. Whaddaythink?

    Did you return to jail with iActivator? That is most important for syncing with iTunes.

    hmm, I just had the same error message.
    It happened after returning to jain with iActivator 1.1 (i think thats the latest one)

    One thing I want to add, after I saw that error I did a iPhoneinterface and saw it was not really in jail. I had the full files system? But iActivator said it retuned successfully??

    So I tried to put the Services.plist back in the /System/Library/Lockdown
    I got this error.

    iPhone:/System/Library/Lockdown/# putfile Services.plist
    Problem with AFCFileRefOpen: 1

    I was not able to write to the directory. So I was only partly in jail. (maybe just probation/porol) :-)

    Well I just finished starting over again and re-synced the phone.
    I choose to force the phone into restore mode and restore it from iTunes. (Pressed power&home button for 30 seconds)

    Yeah, that's what I am doing right now. Had the exact same error msg as you did. Weird. Wonder if i dare use iActivator again or just go Terminal style Big big thanks for the tip!
