I switched it on just now, then locked it, and a few minutes after: black screen again!
What else can I do? Having such an unstable phone is not worth...
Please help! Thx
PS: In settings/about, my Modem Firmware is 04.05.04_G, is it fine?

I still have BootNeuter, but it always freezes at startup (after determining conf.)

The freezes on startup after determining conf is something MuscleNerd has report on twitter that some people get from bootneuter2.1
I can only suggest maybe you try the kiphone way But if that doesn't help then this problem is confusing.

Yes indeed, I had some fun...
But the crashes continue. What shall I do next?
I've downloaded fw 2.2, should I try this? (I suppose I can use my current PwnageTool, or do I also need to install the 2.2 version?)
Thx

I've restored again, but this time to 2.2, and for the moment, it hasn't crashed (only 2 and a half hours after), so fingers crossed!
For some reason, 2.2 seems a bit snappier than 2.2.1.
I'll let you know what is happening.

So it has been 2 days since I've restored to firmware 2.2, and no crashes!!!
Thank you all for your help, and special thanks to n350z.
I'm still surprised that I have these crashes with fw 2.2.1, but hopefully Apple will come up with fixes and updates soon.
Thx

OK, maybe I got happy too fast.
I cannot say that I am having trouble with my iPhone anymore, but I did get 2 more crashes since my last post (almost a week). I'm on 2.2. Again, my friend's phone, bought at the same time, used the same way, never has got crashes in that way (black screen).
If anybody has got similar problems, please do tell me how you fixed them.
Thx

I've had another crash just now, so I tried calling from another mobile phone to see if it would "re-animate" it, and although it stayed black and silent, I could hear the ringing on the other phone. So that could mean it is still on, and working, but completely blank and silent. Does anybody have this problem and knows how to fix it? I had the same problem on 2.2.1, but much more often. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I think I have the same problem as you do. My phone is on 2.2.1, it randomly goes to restore mode and I have done the restore for at least 4 times within 2 days.

How do you know?

Just a question: how do you know it is in restore mode? I thought it was crashing, but maybe it is indeed in restore mode. Is it just black and stuck?
You can read what I've tried here:
iPhone won't wake up from standy/sleep unless I press Menu+Power buttons... - Page 3 - Mac Forums
Unfortunately I had another crash today.
Please let me know if you find a solution.
