I'm glad that they finally decided to join with t-mobile! They should have went with them from the beginning lol. Not only does AT&T suck but its limited to US residence only. How dumb was that to go with them. Anyways I hope that the iphone will be available for T-Mobile USA in the near future. Unfortunately I can't wait that long and will try to unlock mine.

I read this on t-online.de and decided to share but someone has already beaten me too it. I'll post the article anyway for all the german folks:

I won't be so sure about that. T-mobile simply is announcing that the iPhone will be available through their stores, they didn't state they won't be available from Apple.

If you now excuse me, I gotta go and make some calls :p

During the press briefing they clearly stated that activation and selection of your plan will happen through iTunes, just like in the US.

OR will it be possible to buy an iPhone in the US and write the baseband-firmware from the T-Mobile one on it. Would save users almost 100 Euros!

This is a very good question. I will go on a limb here and say it might be possible, just for the fact that this means that Apple will have to release specific firmware for each country, which is not practical.
