Default IPSF unlocking - overwrite a DEV_Team unlock?

ok I think I might be in a sort of unique situation here (but possibly not)
I'm running 1.0.2 with a fair few mods, SSH, BSD, and a few others to make the phone look nicer etc.
I don't actually think I will gain that many featues that from 1.1.1 but I will probably want to unlock when a more ... refined ... jailbreak comes out. So actually I probably won't update for a couple of weeks yet, but still wanted to ask.
First would like to say a huge thanks to anyone that helped develop any of the stuff that I've used, it's been a great journey so far!

I unlocked via the very first anySIM method released by the DEV team.

But I also bought an IPSF licence which actually came through the day after the first anysim came out (the 20 minute one, not the 3 minute unlock)...

Basically, I can't find out (and have tried advanced searches and read the stickies and countless other posts etc, before you ask ) what the route to upgrade might be. Or even if there is one that would (most likely) work.
I'm not too bad as goes using SSH to transfer individual files etc, and have used the PACAY script to activate, and adjusted a few .plist files to alter the vibration patterns, number display format, and number recognition on my phone.

So the real question is: If I use the IPSF program on the phone (as I have the licence) what does it actually do? does it reflash the baseband? will it re-unlock my phone, or will something probably mess up and render my iPhone useless as a phone?
I know that updating to 1.1.1 with the phone in its current state will mess up the baseband, and I know that if an IPSF unlock is meant to be 1.1.1 compatible...
So, could I "overwrite" a DEV team unlock with an IPSF unlock, in order to update to 1.1.1?

cheers for any help u can provide guys, I'm a bit lost on this one

so, from reading this, I understand that flashing the original baseband onto the iPhone, using bbupdater and Terminal (I'm on a mac) will update the baseband, cancelling the unlock that I already have on the iPhone, and allowing me to successfully run the IPSF software, since I already have the licence...?

Yes, it will reflash your baseband back to normal, locking your phone. You then unlock with the IPSF app. Also, it sounds like you may have used iUnlock and not ANYsim as your unlock. iUnlock was the 20 minute one with a text based interface from Erica.

woohoo! looks like it has worked!
I actually didn't have to restore the original firmware, just the baseband.
Thanks to benpottier for the link!

Glad everything worked out for you. Now your mission is to go into all the other threads started by the newbs asking the same things and point them to the site you used.

So here's a dumb question. If we do the new unlock (I have a currently working 1.02 phone), will we have access to the itunes store and the 1.1.1 enhancements? SHould I upgrade to the newest update and then do the ipsf update? Or is this only for those people who have relocked their phones by upgrading them to bring them back to a working iphone without the new features? Thanks.

m_101 - I think there are a lot of people in the same boat, myself included. I bought an IPSF license, and have never used it because I used iUnlock the day it came out. I'm happily running 1.0.2 and while it will be nice to update to 1.1.1, I've decided to let a few other folks jump in headfirst before I do anything.

But it's sweet to see that it worked out for you!!

For every1's info, www.iphonesimfree.com announced on their website that their new version of IPSF is compatible and will unlock bricked iphones now since 1.1.1 has been jailbreaked.
