tried using the search but not quite sure what to look for..

I have an iphone 1.1.2 and i've been using it as a touch. Now as i was going to continue watching scarface and clicked on ipod it says there's no music or videos. I don't think i've accidentally synced it with an empty playlist as i haven't touched the playlist since the first sync and it's on manual sync. It was connected to my powerbook for recharge but how could that erase all data? I did use the installer to install an irc client but could that be it? contacts and such are still there.

What could've caused this, so that i know what i shouldn't do again

nope, first time even hearing about it. been using itunes 7.5

ok now itunes calls my phone untitled playlist which isn't its name (yeah really) and the used space indicator shows that i have over 2gb of "misc" and nothing else. so everything on the phone, pictures etc are labeled as misc. and as ipod doesn't find the movies or music what's using the space? is the music still in there?

What should i do now? this phone worked almost for a full week

sorry to up this but I'm really confused now.. the ipod now has on-the-go playlist and alphabetical search function for songs that i didn't have in the morning. Did my phone just update by itself when i connected to my powerbook (when the problems started)?

I tried syncing it again, now it shows correctly 400mb of music and 400mb of video but there is still this "misc" section of over 2gb. Is there someway to access the files on the phone and see if itunes is just mixed up or if there is something really taking all that space.. And the name of the phone is still untitled playlist. what's up with that

Delete /var/root/Media/iTunes_Control/ with WinSCP. => www.winscp.com

thanks, i'll look into that. But it doesn't explain how the name got changed to untitled playlist does it? how can i change it back? i'm guessing restoring default settings wipes all contacts and installed apps? Does it require jailbreaking again after that?

Cuz you synced it with another computer.

oh that first post sounded like i did, but i didn't. my powerbook is the only computer the phone has been in any relations with. that's why it seems so strange. I've only had it for couple of days, so i haven't even really had time to mess with it.
