My opinion...
IPSF is a bunch of young guns. They developed the software and thought it would be easy to make a quick buck. Then they realised the potential and business sense it needed and have been scrambling to wrap the software up so it is hack proof and also work out a distribution process and payment for the orders.
If you see on their site they are doing minimum of 500 orders now so everyone who scrambled to get 50 orders in wont be serviced now.
We have 700+ confirmed orders and have placed an order of 1000 with them that they have acknowledged.

Hopefully the can at least start shipping any orders so we can finally put the whole is it legit or not rest and delete half of the bullshit threads in this forum.

They first have to invoice those orders over 500. I have been waiting for this to happen. People have to face the facts that this is going to draw out for a few more days and then there is the waiting game to get the software.
I am being brutally honest here. I have told this to all my customers as i am being upfront as i can be.

smells more and more like a scam
i was hopeful that it would be for real but i think IPSF is smelling more and more like something of a scam.
if they are doing this reselling deal to shift legal responsibility then why would they have their servers involved in the actual unlock?? that gives them ultimate legal responsibility for the hack, imo.
i'm in the vapourware camp now.
mind you, if they have x 1000 confirmed orders (which i bet they have) then that's pretty much money in the bank (if they can make it work). maybe that's what they're doing... trying to develop it now.
and they have the added advantage of time because they have people believing it's real so punters are committing to bulk licences. it's in their interest for the word to spread because it will result in much more media and reseller interest.. they will aggregate, sell in one go then you'll never hear from them again.
i think Trash sounds like a good guy and if it all works out for him then great but i'm really not confident now.

But if the server generates a "code" which is needed for the unlock, then all the app will do is contact the server and put the right code in somwhere. If that code has to be unique to each iphone, then you won't be able to simply "copy/paste" the files onto a lock iphone to unlock it, you will need to crack the algotithm that the server uses to generate the code.
Thats my view on it anyway.
Angus
http://aussieiphoneunlock.com My 2 cents: there is no "code". It will be a patch for the baseband, equal to the geohot one. I do not believe, they cracked the IMEI algorithm. So the minute the unlock is released, some hundred people will start reverse engineering. So they may digitally sign their app and scramble the server part.
but, how knows ...

I think Engadget told that the unlock last a couple of seconds. iEraser and so one took much more time on my iPhone. So they should be using another way (if any).

hmm lets hope there are enough devs that will disassemble the app and make it work for everyone for free... hope iphonesimfree's bank account will be frozen

Just... chill.
I think everyone needs to chill and wait it out.
yes, theres high (very high) possibilities of this being a full blown scam and we end up looking like idiots. I dont think that anyone who paid for it (including myself) needs any more reminders that we're looking like complete idiots.
and there is also hope, again for all of us who gave money, that this might be completely legit. we can only hope, however, that it goes without any glitches whatsoever.
everyone just needs to stop hyping it up more than it already is, and all the people who think its a scam should just wait a few more days... then if it really is a scam, you can laugh your asses off at us.
Until we finally get some confirmation (thanks to people like Trash, who is a very good ebay seller and communicator) we can see if we were really robbed or not.
but... thats just what i think.
