this is engadget we're talking about.
i'm 100% sure they wouldn't pull a hoax like that seeing how reliable and popular their site is.

I hope one of the iPhone devs reverses this program and checks to see what they're doing. If any of the code is the same as the freely available programs which are under an open source license, and they don't release the source, then they're at risk of a lawsuit.

I don't have any problem with them charging for their software, but if they've used community knowledge to aid their work, then they should really contribute what they've learned back to the community.

I'm on AT&T, but would like to have the unlock for when I travel to other countries. I wonder if I can do the unlock and then reactivate officially on my AT&T account? Then , when I travel, can I just pop in a local SIM, or will I have to borrow a computer to do iAsign or whatever?

They just updated their website. Added that it was reviewed by engadget and removed all the eyecandy images for bandwidth. They're gonna make alot of money.

Like I said, I don't have a problem with them charging for it. If they package it up nicely and make it super easy to use, then their software is definitely worth something. But credit where credit is due. If you take a little, give a little back.

But yeah, if it's a "clean room" implementation, then more power to them.

SHITE their traffic rates goes upward exponentially - the site is now going into text mode to limit bandwidth. Still have their site with full graphics open i a tab - was like 5 minutes ago.

About paying for the unlock I think this is absurd - mannn put the thing out on a torrent ........

Are you a part of that site, shovelhed? So, the wait is to set up a credit system payment website?
