Default iphone's battery life not as expected

Me and friend both have bought iphones. we unlocked the iphones and are using them. We are experiencing the battery is getting exhausted easily.

What is the normal standby time?

Right now I use the phone to make and receive calls. I'm not playing videos and for this the battery is getting exhausted in 2.5 days.

    The iphone website lists
Stand by time : Up to 250 hours (10 days 10 hours )
Audio playback time:Up to 24 hours
Video playback time: Up to 7 hours

I don't expect these numbers but 50 percent atleast. during the weekend I'll perform more testing.

    Thanks

You know, that standby time is "lying there, doing nothing". As you do telephone calls your battery is used much more than just lying around: the baseband must do its work and the antenna must be provided the needed power for sending...

So I think using it as a normal handy (without hearing music) the 2.5 days is okay.

I web browse and check my e-mails about 30-40 minutes a day (commute time while listing to music), and I still get about 2 to 2.5 days before hitting the 20% message. Albeit when I'm at work I do not use the phone much.

I notice that playing the NES emulator does suck up a lot of battery life. And even thought I love the speeds of Wi-Fi, I stick to EDGE just to not drain my battery that much more.

if you have installed bsd and ssh you will be getting reduced battery life.

    wifi off
    call forwarding on
    autobrightness off
    screen to 50% brightness

keep repeating a movie, not youtube, and you should get around 5 hours of battery life.

that is the only controlled method of testing your battery.
