Hi, my daughter found an iphone 4 in the back of a London cab. to cut a long story short,we turned on pin lock,we installed itunes and tryed to restore to factory settings. which worked but updated to ios 4.1 (what ever that is) now we have no pin number lock and can see all the apps. put orig sim back in (vodaphone) and this phone activated. tried puting a tesco micro sim in but sim not supported. shall we just get a new pay as you go vodaphone sim and this will work?
You should report this to the police (or to the Cab company) and hand the iPhone to them. If after a period of time, they can't find the original owner - you are most likely entitled to claim it as lost property.

The blacklist is also shared with other countries, so the phone will eventually be unusable across the whole of the EU.
By reporting it to the police (and the telephone company) you have a chance to avoid the blacklist (or at least maybe a way to legally request the blacklist be removed).
