i kno this is not really important.......
the original iphone display is (xxx) xxx-xxxx for me which im in Vancouver....

i wanted to show xxx xxx xxxx


(BEST TO SAVE A BACKUP FOR THESE FILES)


u need to convert your ABPhoneFormats.plist

download that using ibrickr

1) open ibrickr > files > look for /System/Library/Framework/AddressBookUI.framework/ABPhoneFormats.plist
(put it somewhere like desktop or sth...up to u) close ibrickr

OR GET IT HERE....ABPhoneFormats.plist
(this is mine...the format is xxx xxx xxxx.......if u use mine...skip to step 6) lol

2)go to this sitehttp://140.124.181.188/~khchung/cgi-bin/plutil.cgi Click Browse> look for that ABPhoneFormats.plist (Where ever u saved it)...click "Convert"

3) download it, save it....

4)now you've d converted you file that can open with notepad
open it with notepod or whtever document....

5)in the document hit "Ctrl+F" (find) then look for "us" then u'll see
"<key>us</key> <array>" beside it u should see "<string>+1 (###) ###-####</string>

Change it to whtever format u want like "(xxx)xxxxxxx" or xxxxxxxxxx or xxx xxx-xxxx" Completely up to you, but im using xxx xxx xxxx

Change it n save it

6)now open ibrickr...click Files> look for /System/Library/Framework/AddressBookUI.framework/

Click upload...look for that file u just mod...

7)go http://iphone.fiveforty.net/wiki/index.php/AppSupport.. Download the file...
depends which country your in or how the display you want it to show
AppSupport-7.tar.gz for 7 digits to show...
AppSupport-8.tar.gz for 8 digits to show...
AppSupport-9.tar.gz for 9 digits to show...
AppSupport-10.tar.gz for 10 digits to show...

(this is according to how u moded the ABPhoneFormats.plist earlier on step 5)

8)in ibrickr...upload the AppSupport to /System/Library/Frameworks/AppSupport.framework/

10) Reboot your Iphone (power off and on)

11) Click Phone > dialpad .. try dialing see if the format display changed...

12) enjoy..

This is a great guide. My problem is that i dont have the ABPhoneformats.list file in that location! i have been searching every directory on the phone and cant find it... any advice there?

i think us, 1.0.2 users, don't have that file.. i searched for it too and dont have it..

I am on 1.1.1 (upgraded from 1.02)

I wonder if some file structures are different between upgraded 1.1.1 and fresh out of the box 1.1.1

this is only for 1.0.2 users.

If you are using 1.1.1, you can hack to enable the international support. than you are done
