My Iphone 4S would not turn on this morning. It has the battery icon on it showing the battery is dead, but it was plugged in all night. I tried to reboot it, that did not work. I tried different cables. When I unplug the phone, it shows the cord icon telling me to plug it back in, when I plug it back in, it shows the charging icon (the little lightening bolt). My computer does not see the Iphone. I put it into recovery mode by holding down the power and the home button for 10 secs, releasing the power button while holding the home button for 5 secs longer. My Itunes then saw the phone, but said it was in recovery and I needed to restore. I did the restore, It completed it with no errors and told me that it was completed and that my Iphone would be restarting. It did not restart. It did the same thing it was doing before I started. While researching for information, I feel the phone vibrate, I pick it up and it has the apple logo on it and the little revolving circle showing that it's trying to power on, but then it stopped and went black. I pushed the home button and just saw the battery and the charging icon as I did from the beginning. I started over, tried to reboot, no go. Did another recovery/restore - it completed with no errors, again, same result. It said it was successful and my phone would restart. It did not. Suggestions please? And please be nice to me. I am not very technologically savvy. Just a mom trying to fix her sons phone. Thank you! I appreciate any help.

There is no Mac version for Recuva or so. Mac data recovery programs are much rare than those work under Windows, cases are same with free photo recovery software on Mac OS X. YES, PhotoRec (the little brother of TestDisk ) is such (also seems the ONLY) quite awesome freeware that works under Mac but many other platforms like Windows, Linux etc. But the only drawback like "xUKHCx" said is that the program is not so user-friendly as it works with command line, which means no GUI (Graphic User Interface) equipped.

If you are willing to use some other photo recovery software with GUI, Photo Recovery for Mac is an option (though paid but price much more reasonable). Besides photos, the tool can also recover other media files like videos and music. I don't mean to persuade you to buy the app. It's just an option. Note: no matter you choose to use PhotoRec or other paid apps, I hope you can show some sense of appreciation to the developers who design the program under conditions with Too Many (several months or even years' day and night, expensive Mac machines etc.) If PhotoRec does help you out, just show some generosity and make little donations to the team. I am sure they will be glad.

One more thing: before photo recovery, you'd better immediately stop any activity (saving, editing etc) to the partition where your lost photos located. OS X may overwrite free space very quickly and may make your files become unrecoverable. Better take care. I hope you good luck. Regards
