I received from the USA and unlocked my iPhone last night and is working perfectly on Virgin UK.

I played with my iPhone on my wifi at home and drove to work and discovered that the phone had connected to GPRS.

I checked my account and for 20 minutes of use i was charged 3.09 for data by Virgin. Phoned them and they deactivated data from my account.

Hope this might save you some money.

    Simon.

So basically you got an american (I'm assuming AT&T) iPhone, Unlocked it and used a Vigin-Mobile-UK sim-card and got GPRS de-activated? and it worked fine?

You know you can fix most causes of "unexpected data access" on the phone. The most common cause of this is half configured push notifications on hacktivated phones.

This can be fixed with Push Doctor - http://www.hackint0sh.org/f127/113610.htm to install legit certificates and then properly enabling and disabling push notifications by installing a free app.

An iPhone without a cheap data plan is really only half as good as an iPhone with cheap or unlimited data. You might as well have got an iPod touch.
