The question is: does this software convert PROTECTED DVDs too? Otherwise, it is pretty much useless and a waste of money. Yes, I know...there are ways...but I'm only asking if the mentioned software has the capability to copy protected DVDs without the need of another tool.
A little hint btw: the well known all-in-one converting tool (I won't say the name but it ends with "mobile") works pretty well, there is no iPhone setting you can choose but the iPod Video setting works perfectly.

I was on the phone with an alledged higher level tech support for a LONG time yesterday. He said they were still compiling information with the goal being a "big" update. Huge. Not any wimpy type. FWIW.

that's all great news....lets see if apple can make this thing a mini-10.5 machine.
i can definitely see the direction of coverflow being everywhere...i am running 9A466 and it reminds me of the iPhone interface itself as a whole sometimes. I wouldnt be surprised if they cannibalize the entire name and make it a true micro-computer. it has the possibility to be this. its not missing much.

right now it's pretty amazing but all those features would really make it worth it's money; don't get me wrong i love the thing

    Nice find.

Hopefully the update will open more doors on the hacking front but it will probably close all the things we have been able to do now.

I bet jailbreak and iphoneinterface will not work when they release an update.

To iphonefan , stop with that bullshit advertising.

Any firmware update would render all mods (with the exception of the SIM unlock...hopefully) useless since they would be overwritten with an update.
If people think they can just skip iPhone updates, they're wrong. Despite the fact that Apple is rumoured to offer tons of improvements and new features with these updates, they will also contain bugfixes and sooner or later, iTunes DRM protect media files won't work anymore on the iPhone without these updates.

Yes, with each firmware update, a new hack is needed but since the basic steps are already well known and widely available, it will only take a couple of days to adapt the current hacks to new firmware.

There are apps that disable the protection of DVD's on a higher level (i.e. they remove the protection before any app sees it), and it will surely work with any software apple may release...

Heh, they're just still working on it i'm sure. C'mon Macworld '09...

Seriously though, it's quite obvious where the iPhone platform as a whole is going, and it's not even close to the one mentioned above.
