iPhone Unlock Question
So, like everyone else who was patient enough to wait for the iPod touch, I'm contemplating between buying the 399 iPhone(8Gb) or the 399 iPod Touch(16Gb). I am currently an AT&T customer, so I don't have a problem with the SIM card lock(I don't think), but I really do not want to pay the extra 20 dollar/month data plan. So my question is this: With the software unlocks available, like iActivator or IASign, will I be able to use the iPhone as a phone with my existing AT&T plan or no?

I think there's no reason you should buy an iPod Touch and carry two gadgets.
It should work.

Yes, i understand that, but I was under the impression that since I have an AT&T simcard I wouldn't necessarily need the full on SIM card unlock--only the activation that I have to do, normally through iTunes...So like basically I was wondering if I could use an iPhone with an AT&T account without paying for the monthly data service...

yes you can, you just need to activate the phone manually, then you can use it with a AT&T Sim card

Yes you can use the iphone on a non-iphone ATT plan. I am currently in the process of doing it. One link which explains how to do this with a cingular pay-as-you-go card is http://www.hacktheiphone.com/iphone_...gular_sim.html
You should basically do similar steps except use your ATT sim card (post-paid or pre-paid)
