iPhone from AT&T unlocked after 6 months?

Is it true that iPhone 3G from AT&T will automatically become unlocked after 6 months of purchase?

Also how much does it cost all up to get the 8GB or the 16GB phones, by terminating the contract early (including contract termination fees etc)?

And if the contract is terminated early, will it still be unlocked after 6 months?

3G's from AT&T are not automatically unlocked after 6 months

No, they have not. If you want a factory unlocked (by Apple), check here

The table also shows, which one are factory unlocked, which can be unlocked by the carrier and which are not going to be unlocked.
