This will give you your Factory Virgin Default-

    reboot computer
    open iTunes
    Completely turn off iPhone Completely
put iphone on desk not cradle
    hold down home button
while home button pressed plug in USB
keep holding home button till restore comes up in iTune and iPhone is recognized
    restore

you will lose all info on iPhone but you can reload everything again.

definitive i think its some kind of hardware fault , i had same problems with 2 phones fresh new , without any manipulation ...2 faulty phones from batch of 70 its very very high %......i think the best way if that happends to you its try to return that phones to stores ..bcs if that happends to you 1 time and for some way you unbricked ..that wll happends again in future ..

I had the same issue, my brother brought me the phone from the US and when i first turned it on it had the apple logo stuck but i would still see it in itunes. I did a restore at like 2am, then went to sleep, and the next morning it was still on the apple logo. But lo and behold, when i rebooted the iphone, the att activation screen came up.
I was able to jailbreak it and activate it and played around with it for a couple of days but then it froze while using apptapp, so i rebooted it but i got the apple logo stuck again. This was a couple of days ago. today i let it discharge completely (got the red-battery sign) and recharge but i still get the apple logo.

Right now I'm going to try to do the restore without the simcard and then let it sit for a while and see what happens. I'm starting to think it's a hardware issue though and if i can't resolve the problems by next week i'll have my brother send it back.

by the way, when i turn on the phone on the apple logo, sometimes (after a few minutes) it will vibrate twice...any idea if this is some kind of error code?
