    Default Iphone for skype totally useless!!

    I was excited about the im for skype by shape services. However, it uses a call back number or you can't make the call. You make the call, it calls back your land line or cell, the from either it makes the call out. Well, duh, why don't I just make the call from my landline or cell then?!? Then they have the audacity to try to slip the uselessness of their service under your nose:

    * What is the ´Call Phone´ for?

    This option allows you to set callback number for outgoing calls

    Note: 1.In some cases SkypeOut to a landline phone is generally cheaper or even free than to a mobile. You can specify any landline phone number in the ‘Call Phone’ menu.

    2. Due to SkypePro SkypeOut calls to the national landlines within the same country are free. Make your calls to any landline free using callback option to a landline phone. Select the ‘Call Phone’ menu and enter the callback landline phone number.

    * Can I use SkypeIn in IM+ for Skype?

    Now you can use SkypeIn in IM+ for Skype on BlackBerry devices. SkypeIn will be added to IM+ for Skype on other mobile platforms soon.

    * Why does my mobile ring when I make a call?

    When you call any contact via Skype, IM+ for Skype redirects the call back to you. That is why your mobile rings.

    Like no-one will catch this little slight of hand.

    I make the call on my iphone, then my landline rings, my landline then phones the number I am calling, and I get to talk. Yippie!!!... Like, couldn't I just make the freaking call from my land line!?

    Either I'm misunderstanding what you're saying, or your misunderstanding what the purpose is.

    Here's how I see it. If you have a phone with no long distance service, they call your phone and the other phone you want to talk to. This way, you're billed nothing on your non-long-distance line. And you get to talk long distance.

    Also, since I don't use Skype normally, I'm guessing there's a service sorta like Grand Central. If you're assigned a phone number by Skype / Grand Central, and you hand people that phone number, people will be weirded out if they call that number and you call back at a different number.

    The solution is to have the service call both your phone and their phone. Their phone sees the online number with caller ID. Your phone is used to talk. Since dialing from your phone, you'd show up as the phone's caller ID number and not the service's caller ID number.

    In the UK it's nice because you're not charged for incoming calls at all.
