iPhone in Puerto Rico with 787 are code?

Where many of us in Puerto Rico are trying to find a way to use the iPhone with our 787 based ATT sim cards. For some reason ATT chose not to support Puerto Rico in the first release of the iPhone even though they provide full service in Puerto Rico. If we can find a way to use the phone with a standard ATT sim bypassing the iTunes unlock sequence we would be all set. Any suggestions?

The iPhone is designed not to work in PR.... And if you try it you will just loose your money cause they will disconnect it... I already tried.

yamir49,
So you got it to work with a 787 area code and ATT later disconnected it on you?

Facts about iPhone use in Puerto Rico
The iPhone CAN be used in Puerto Rico with all its features, including visual voicemail. I am tired of hearing nonsense and misleading information. It will not be deactivated because you are in Puerto Rico, that is totally without any logic. The fact is that area codes 787 and 939 are blocked in the phone. We have to activate it using a mainland address, then we can change the mailing address to PR without problems, I have done it already. Relocation to area code 787 or 939 is not an option with AT&T at present time, the representatives have been instructed to tell us that they cannot try it. We hope that someone can unlock the phone so we can switch SIM cards. But I am using the iPhone without any problems in Puerto Rico. Again it will not be deactivated just for being in the island. All plans are national, they include: roaming, long distance, unlimited data, 200 SMS, unlimited mobile to mobile (within the AT&T network, of course). So if you have a 787 account, just do call forwarding to your iPhone. People calling you still dial 787 and they get a local call, no long distance charges. I hope this helps somewhat.
