Cool IPHONE OUT of BOX - what to do in Windows

    HI Everybody.
I am getting 4gb brand new iphone. I dont want to break anything . Could you please give me complete instructions what to do to have everything working. Calls, sms, you tube. Or please send link where i can find it. I was trying to look on forum where are diffrent guides but some of them seems to be not complete or not very clear for the person who will do that for the first time.
Thank you in advance for you help.

Good luck. I also did this, although I wasnt following the post, I at that time had to collect all intelligence from different posts, but it did work.

From ripping the plastic wrap from my phone to having it unlocked, I barely spent 30 or so minutes. Its really easy.

    Cheers

Thanks Ben. Is there anything particular that you can suggest to what i should pay special attention in order not to break it.
I can't wait to get it but also i am a lit bit afraid about breaking it?
    Thanks.

    Hi

I had no problem at all, and I try to summarize what I did from memory, as I dont have the phone anymore. It had some screen defect, and I sold it locally (in Hungary) as its pretty rare here, so even with the problem it was an easy sell.

    Step 1: Unwrap
Step 2: Power the Phone make sure it works
Step 3: Install iTunes 7.4 the latest
    Step 4: Shut down iTunes.
    Step 5: Shut down phone
Step 6: Press HOME key on phone (while its switched off) and plug in the USB cable. The phone will start automatically and shortly takes you to a Recovery screen. Now you can let the Home button go.

Step 7: Launch iTunes 7.4 and it will ask you to restore. Go on with Restoring, accept everything. Make sure it restores to 1.0.2 and not anything higher. A new Firmware is due out, and that might break things. If its 1.0.2, go on and restore. The phone will restart a couple of times, but it will come back and iTunes will let you know when its done.

Step 8: Shut down iTunes and iTuneshelper from the Task Manager.
Step 9: Have the iPhone connected to USB and the phone on. iTunes is off and should NOT be started.

Step 10: Start AppTappInstaller.exe choose 1.0.2 firmware and go on with it. It will restart your phone, puts it in recovery etc, then come back on. It will say when its done.

Step 11: Start the downloaded (CLICK HERE) activate.bat and go on with activation, until you read you need to turn off. You turn off, then on, and you should now see the iPhone Interface.

Step 12: You will see on the SpringBoard (Desktop of iPhone) the Installer app. Click that, make sure you are connected to WiFi. Install the BSD Subsystem, the Community Sources. Restart the phone. Go back to the Installer and install OPEN SSH, mobile terminal.

Step 13: On the iPhone, disable the Autolock, so it wont interrupt the hacking

Step 14: Install WinSCP on your PC, and after checking the IP on the iPhone, connect to it with root as user and dottie as pass. It will take a while perhaps half a minute, and you need to ignore some warnings on the PC. Once connected, copy the Unlocker.app folder to the /Applications/ folder. Chmod it. You can use WinSCP, but I like console, so on the iphone I went to Mobile Terminal, and did

    chmod -R 755 /Applications/Unlocker.app

(Please note that as I dont have the phone, I may not tell you the exact right paths, I only speak from memory)

Step 15: Restart, you will see the new icon on the SpringBoard, launch the unlocker, wait and restart when completed. At this point remove the AT/T SIM, and put in your own.

Again, I would like to stress that I write from Memory only, so please take caution, and dont rely on only me.

    Cheers, good luck

    Ben

Well, I am not sure the NO NO NO was necessary its just another method using different tools. The one I outlined is almost entirely automated with scripts, which makes it easier I think

Can you tell me how long this step should last? I've tried this several times and it never seems to go anywhere. Am I just not waiting long enough? Thanks.
