we really need an update for this - there are SMSes coming in, but going straight to the SIM card, because the iphone doesn't detect the web-sent SMS.
there must be a way to hack this better!

There is another option to correct this problem, though, which takes a while to implement and involves flashing the baseband, but is quite effective and resolves this problem.
Assuming that the firmware upgrade creates havoc for those of us who have implemented the software unlock, and a re-crack is not immediately available and you’re stuck with 1.02, you might want to think about performing this workaround. Just search "SMS" and you're bound to find it.
Please will everyone stop suggesting the bbupdater patch will correct this. It wont. There are two problems
(1) SMS from 'named' sources such as websites / banks / etc. Not being picked up
(2) No incomming SMS's at all
The bbupdater patch only corrects the second problem, the first is a problem with ALL iphones including AT&T legit ones. I hope apple release a fix in 1.1.1 very soon.

I was just wondering: for those with a TurboSIM, couldn't this problem be solved by capturing those SMS's with the TurboSIM software and then maybe "transcode" them to come from some numerical number (0123456789 or whatever)? OK, this wouldn't solve the problem for the majority of users (including me), but it could solve it for TurboSIM users...

i somewhat knew it couldn't have been the bbupdater patch making the problem. i was more hoping that someone would find the .plist file which organises the SMSes, and include an alphanumeric option and post it as a '1111' mobiel number, thus bringing it to the iphone's inbox.
it's just crazy Apple didn't come across this bug during testing - i guess they didn't have to buy the crazy frog tune from some stupid ringtone seller - lol.

No web or operator messages for me either.
This is where the message app is /System/Library/Frameworks/Message.framework/
Only problem is i don't know a thing
Someone more knowlagable could look in to it, maybe they could fix it [/WHISHFULL THINKING]

I think that is for the mail app. The ISP.plist file has settings for gmail, yahoo etc. Nothing to do with SMS.

That would be a great solution for Turbosim users, unfortunately I don't know much about scripting for the Turbosim. If the 1.1.1 software comes out this week and breaks the turbosim solution, then I may look into this further. Otherwise I'll upgrade which will hopefully still work with turbosim (since it doesn't need to patch the baseband, just hope they don't change the SIM authentication method...) and use the apple-fix which we're all hoping will be present with 1.1.1.
