I am a Hong Konger using Peoples as the carrier.
I encounter the same problem of not being able to receive some SMS message like the sms for voicemail.

I am pretty sure this is a display bug related to having an apostrophe in the name of your phone. Change the name in iTunes to something else and it should go away.

Well over here (Singapore), once the bank send a sms containing a One Time Password(OTP) for you to key in during Internet banking, the sms app will crash!! After you receive this sms, everytime you press the sms icon, it will just pop up, then closes back to main menu!!! To recover back, have to restore everything!!! Anybody who have this problem, and have recover back the sms app w/o restoring? Can please post it???

Try putting your SIM in another Phone to receive the sms.. I heard that should work sometimes.. But I forgot where I read that! So don't blame me if it's not working! ;-)

The same here in germany with sms messages from O2 bonus world. Keeps crashing the SMS app, you can do a "Reset and delete all" on your iphone to solve that problem and upload the backup of iTunes.
    iPhone: 16GB White
    Shop: Italy - Portogruado
    Jailbreak: QuickPwn
    Network: German O2 (Unlocked)
    Firmware: 2.2

Pwnage, QuickPwn, WinPwn and the VMWare Toolchain all there!
Now with new page, new download system and more speed!

I think that we all know that this works, however it defeats the purpose of having an iPhone. The SMS problem is well known and is the result of a bug that will be corrected by Apple in their next firmware realise -- a dirty word these days...firmware upgrade.

There is another option to correct this problem, though, which takes a while to implement and involves flashing the baseband, but is quite effective and resolves this problem.

Assuming that the firmware upgrade creates havoc for those of us who have implemented the software unlock, and a re-crack is not immediately available and you’re stuck with 1.02, you might want to think about performing this workaround. Just search "SMS" and you're bound to find it.

Same problem here in Germany with T-Mobile Germany.

If you request a CostCheck by SMS, no SMS is received.

Well, I have tried your suggestion, however the search function on this forum tells me that "one of my words is too short or to common and was not included on the search: SMS" "Sorry no pages match"

    Any link perhaps?
