Default Iphone - Itunes update - Letīs get it done.

My iTunes say: iTunes will check for updates on 9/21/2007.

I suspect Apple will release a new firmware within the day or tomorrow, and I suspect it will forcefully update itself. If this is the case, what options are we left with? If they do update the baseband, and render the softunlock none functioning.

Certainly hope Apple wonīt forcefully update my iPhone - but I suspect they will. I do use iTunes to sync my music and podcasts. I would want to do that in the future as well.

What options do we have? Is there a way to sync the iPhone without using iTunes?
Is there a way to restore the iPhone without iTunes? Is there a way to force iTunes not to check for updates? Is there a way to hack iTunes into not downloading new updates?

These are questions we should try to resolve together - so please come forward if you know or think you might have an solution to any of these questions.

    Cheers!

Restore for one, require you to be connected to the Internet. And it will update it.

Beside, I prefer not to have my system offline everytime I wanna syncronize my iPhone. :-)

    these are questions already answered

i updated iTunes 7.4.1.2 for a friend last night, and when installing i simply turned off Auto Install Updates from the install wizard options. and double checked it in iTunes->Edit->Preferences->General Tab... and made sure 'check for auto updates automatically' was UNCHECKED

keep backups of iTunes 7.4.1.2 and iPhone firmware 1.0.2

in iTunes when it asks you to restore (if needed) click Alt on Mac and Shift on PC while click on restore in teh pop up window on the computer and it will allow you to find your backed up firmware..
    thats it
