iPhone Frozen Somehow
I am not sure how to explain this but this morning my phone just froze on me. I woke up and wanted to check emails but once I clicked the power button I got my usually message "you are not subscribed to edge" (cause I am not) and then it just got stuck with the internet icon spining (you know the one on the top left that spins when loading something).
I cant use the home button doenst do anything.
I tried holding down the power button, that doesnt do anything either.
Tried going into restore mode but since non of the above worked this didnt work also.
put it on the AC/POWER adapter and nothing happened.
I am thinking of letting it drain and shut down but wanted to see if anyone else had a recommendation.
Thanks

the same happened to me yesterday
try holding the home button for 6+ sec
if it doesn't work, try holding both the power and the home button until it switches off. then switch back on. it worked for me.

I think that we've all run into this problem at one time or another, especially as the result of pop-up message that we receive when we're doing something else and this screws up the phone.
I know that you said you did it, but ensure that you hold the power/home button down for at least 30 seconds or even longer if required. Once the phone powers off, let go and power the phone back on. It should work.
Option 2: try ssh to the phone and issue a "reboot" command, assuming that the phone allows you to even login. Trying pinging the phone before you do it and wait to slogin once the phone starts responding....Apple's ip stack is quite interesting and does everything that it can to save battery life, including blocking ICMP echo/echo replys until it's hold-down timer expires.
Good luck....

Ok Thanks;
I tried holding the power and home for a while and stopped when i got the apple, tried stopping there but it would get stuck on the apple logo and go through a reboot cycle so I ended up hooking it up to itunes and doing a restore.
Thanks to all who helped.

Sometimes removing your SIM also helps getting your phone out of a frozen state.
